No, not really. Too cold, houses too close together, and just not my thing. I plan to go to college on the west coast, and then we will see after that.

I like where I live. I'm not sure I love it, though. Or maybe I do, but the wanderlust makes me blind to it.

I live on Long Island, about 1.5 hours from Manhattan. I grew up here. I live in my mom's house, where I grew up.

I'd like to live in a different house/apartment. I LOVE the area 5-10 miles north, it's a university town and suburban, but with a small-town/rural feel. Always running into people you know, very old/historic homes/areas (1600s). On the sound, gorgeous views, small farms, etc.

I lived in NYC for 2 years and I wish I lived there longer. I want to move back there, now. Or just spent more time there. I'm homesick for it a lot, even though I wouldn't want to be there forever.

I adore Ottawa. Everything about it. It's big without seeming big, due to the greenbelt and our population density being low. Lots to do - music festivals, great food, great festivals year-round (Winterlude starts this weekend, so excited!) and tons of outdoor space. Bike paths all over town, hiking trails, tons of parkland within a half hour in several directions... very dog friendly and loaded with dog people, dog events and dog rescues. :)

I'm very happy here and have no intention to move away.

However...

I absolutely LOVE Cape Breton! I hate our winters.
If the job situations were better out there, I'd already be there. :( It's the one other place I'd love to live, and fully intend on retiring there.

If I could live here with a different landlord, I'd love it. But I wouldn't want to live down this crazy ass hill no one will drive down. Walking 2 miles to meet the UPS guy is getting old.
I used to like this town, but it's getting too big. We moved out here to get away from the city. Seems everyone else had the same idea and the population is growing rapidly. Fortunately we live down a dirt road where there are many fewer people than in the other areas.
I live only an hour or so from where I was born and spent most of my childhood.
It's friggin' hot, but I deal with that much better than I deal with the cold. I am absolutely an Arizona girl.

Yes and no.

Pros:
Michigan can be beautiful, especially in the fall.
Family is here.
Fairly low COL.
Lots of trees, farms, lakes... obviously the great lakes which are gorgeous.
Most people here are pretty friendly and not overly radical. We have a good mix of social status, but not a huge variety of culture. We live about 10 miles north of Kalamazoo, so close enough to a bigger city where there is a mall and junk, but not so close that we are IN the city. If K-zoo isn't big enough, Grand Rapids is only about an hour away.
There are very few things here that could go wrong. Small chance of tornadoes, little to no chance of wildfire, there's always water (though we can have some nasty droughts), we only have two kinds of poisonous snakes and big cats are mainly in the UP and keep to themselves.
Lots of opportunities for hunting and fishing. And a decent amount of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails if you are willing to drive a short ways.

Cons:
WINTER IS SOOO COLD. SUMMER IS SOOO HUMID.
It's a good 3 hour drive for us to feel truly at home, which is in the upper lower peninsula.
Cattle ranching is slim around here.
There are no mountains, which I'm obsessed with. OTOH, Up North reminds me a lot of the mountains and I would be perfectly content up there.
Economy can really suck a big one.

There are days where I feel like we could stay forever and then there are days when I want to move to NC or Washington. Chances are we will stay here. If I can, my goal is to get in with the DNR Up North and living near Baldwin and surrounding areas.

I live in Birmingham, Alabama and the biggest plus here is that half my family lives here( the other half leaves in Florida). Other than that, Alabama is just "meh."

There is a very noticeable divide of poor and rich. Alabama is still very segregated, and there are some stores in the richer areas that I would rather not go to window shop. The bus services is pretty bad. I use the bus to go to college most days so I know. The city keeps cutting the hours of operation for city buses. It use to operate until 11 am, now it has been cut down to 8 30. My brother of mine use to rely on buses to and from work, now has to walk home at night.

There isn't much to do here. Me and my friends would get together every couple of months and go have some fun and it is utterly amazing how we end up just doing the same things. The city of Birmingham is utterly horrid to look at with the many abandon buildings and unoriginal architecture. I've been to other cities in Georgia, Texas, and Florida and they are much more impressive to look at. Much more vibrant. I would not recommend most of the schools here. Also, as an artist, Alabama does not have a great art scene. I also think that Alabama can be a bit inconvenient. Nothing ever happens here.

Plus side, items here aren't that expensive. The housing is cheap and the people are overall, very nice.

Plus side, there is a church on every street corner. Downside, there is a church on every street corner. Most people here feel religion is very important in their lives. Most people here are also more conservative minded, while I lean more to the left. Wouldn't mind moving to a more moderate state.

I plan to move to a state that has a bigger art scene and just... more of everything. I'm considering Texas, New York, California, or Georgia.

I like it here in Madison, WI. I am very far away from were I was born and raised at this point. I was born in Germany and lived there until I was 18.

Madison is a lovely town to live in. Our little house is okay...there is so much I would like to do with it or to it, but time and finances are not where they would need to be for all that.

WI has some lovely areas to visit like Door County.

The winters a bit of meh...this winter in particular has been wicked, but it has been wicked everywhere else too.

As for living somewhere else... I have lived in Oklahoma and wild horses could not drag me back there. I have lived in Iowa, both in Ames and the Des Moines area, and I did not mind living there.

There are places I would not mind to try living... Seattle looks nice (I have a friend that lives there). I have known a few people living in Portland and they have all said it is very nice.
I loved Madison. Such a cool city! SO is from WI. I have highly considered moving there. But his family still lives there. And his moms a bitch. ;)

I live in northern Arkansas. Its okay. My area is growing fast. We are the hometown of Wal-Mart. Its really cool to know the CEO and executives. Its getting bigger and better. But not much happens here. And I really don't want to live in the south. I don't like the attitude or atmosphere. But I have family here. And a good job.

SO and I want to travel more to see what fits us. We think Washington\Oregon. Or there's always Wisconsin!

My dad's side of the family is from the UP (Soo area) and I love it there. We used to visit my grandma's cabin on Lake Superior every summer, but unfortunately she had to sell it and lives in town now.

I like my house, but I don't like this town at all. I like the lake park, though. Otherwise, it's a boring town with nothing to do but drink. The majority of people here are just not kind, either... or good dog owners.

Also, there are NO TREES here. Last place I lived was in the woods. No wind. I hate wind. It is soooo bloody windy here!!

It's one of the reasons I'm so glad we're moving- our new place (from what I hear) is really nice and accepting of people that weren't born there (like this place is), and they aren't jerks about their dogs. Plus there's a lot to do. It'll be nice to go to more events and gatherings, and just feel safe walking Roxie.

I've lived other places though, and never really liked or cared for them, so... hopefully this new town is different :)

Well, I live in the same City as Southpaw, but I guess I more consider where I live to be in the general Twin Cities area? I love living in the TC, except for this winter. This winter is ridiculous. But in general, yes, I love it here.

I think the biggest things I love about the Twin Cities are:
1. They have ALL the dog things, all the time.
2. So many state parks and recreation areas. So much pretty!
3. The general open-mindedness of the people. So different from where I am from.

Things I don't care for:
1. The long winters can get kind of tedious. I'm sure I'd love it if I did something with it (Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc.) and I'd like to, but I never quite get there :p I do love ice racing though!
2. Good lord does it get humid in the summer. Thanks LAKES!

As far as my actual city goes, like Southpaw said, I can get to the city in half an hour, I can get to rural in half an hour. I love that! We live in an apartment, which as far as apartments go, is awesome! We will be here until we can afford a house, and I'm okay with that. When we buy a house I doubt we will stay in this city, it's quite expensive. If I have my way (and we buy a house here instead of moving out of state) I'd like to move about 15 minutes north to a less expensive city where every house is a ranch style with a fenced backyard. Do want!

I'm very 'meh' about Maryland. I really would love to move, and the main thing keeping me here is family. While in retrospect, it's not a 'bad' place to live... we have mountains, beaches, water, lots of history, 3 major cities real close... Baltimore, DC and Annapolis, lots of parks and trails, etc... I honestly find that I don't even utilize what's right in front of me lol. I very much dislike driving into DC or Baltimore. Parking sucks. DC confuses me.

I hate the weather 85% of the time. There seems to be like no in betweens. We seem to suffer through a LONG winter (most of the time) and then a stupidly hot and humid long summer. I always feel like we only get two weeks of Spring and two weeks of Fall. There's hardly any in between. It just goes from one extreme to the next. At least, it seems to be that way. As I've gotten older, I'm kind of sick of super cold weather, I used to love it. high 40's - low 80's is okay with me and probably my ideal. :D I looveee Fall, but like I said, we don't seem to get much of it.

It's getting too congested in so many areas. I hate driving around here. You can go alot further from my area, like Frederick MD area and not have that but it's kind of boring there IMO. I actually have learned to really love the Eastern Shore of MD. You're far enough away from the congestion/traffic of Annapolis, Baltimore, etc, but you're not in the absolute middle of nowhere, you're right on the water, there's lots of outdoorsy things to do, lots of land, cheaper, etc.

Maybe it's just because I've lived here my whole life but I don't find it all that special. I mean, I guess there is a lot of stuff to do, if you take advantage of it. Maybe I'll leave and then really miss MD. Who knows.

I'm such a mix of a country / city girl. I love having some land, and privacy, but I also like being close to things (i.e. stores, malls, food places, etc). I could NEVER live somewhere that had the nearest grocery store an hour away or anything like that. But I also could never live in a place like NYC.

It ok, I don't hate, but I don't love it. I live in SE Wisconsin, I live less then 5 minutes from Milwaukee.

I like the town I live in. We have little shopping center in the middle of town. Its neat, the buildings are at 50+ years old, many of the stores are independent. We also have Old Falls Village, which has old townhouse, schoolhouse, & other stuff like that.

The winters can get really cold, in the negatives, & the summer can get pretty hot & humid. I love spring here though, & the beginning of fall.

Do you like where you're currently living? Do you like your town/city? The general area? Is it the same place you grew up or far away?

If you don't like it, where would you rather live?
Yes and no. I don't mind the town we are living in. It is about an hour to a 1 1/2 hours south west of where I grew up.

I would rather be outside of city limits with more land and not renting. There really isn't a whole lot to do around here with the dogs. No nice biking trails or paths like our last town had. The pros are we are only about 30 minutes from Grand Rapids, Slightly closer to my parents. Slightly farther away from his family.

I love Toronto. I was born and raised here and really can't imagine settling anywhere else. :) There's so much to see and do, it's so multicultural, love the hot summers and cold winters (except maybe not like -35 with the windchill like it has been this year). I just .. love. I didn't want to go anywhere else for university so I stayed (except for a brief stint of living in the UK while studying abroad).

I've mused about living in Ohio for a year, maybe two, but I don't think I could live anywhere but Southern Ontario long term. :)

I live in Toronto too! But I don't like it. I love my house and my general area (close to the beach), but otherwise I hate the public transit system, I hate the traffic, I hate the expense of everything. The convenience of living in the city is nice, but otherwise, bleh. So many rude, thoughtless jerks here.

I reallllly want to move out west. Preferably BC, but the cost of living is worse or the same in some areas. Calgary is on the list too.

Yes, I like where I live. Not when it's super cold and slippery, but all in all, I can't complain. It's a nice city, lots of parks, close to the mountains and the prairies, usually moderate weather wise (although unpredictable) except for a few weeks each summer/winter.

I'd love to live somewhere warm (no snow or very little) all year round though. Not sure where, but I'd be super happy if I never had to go through another real winter.

Love it!

Ohio is great! Fields and farms and just enough big city. I am close to Cleveland and sandusky in the middle of nowhere. Things are a drive but good! I don't want to be ten minutes from target!

We have the Great Lakes, beautiful parks, horse and four wheeling trails that are great!

Some days I love the snow, others not so much! Love the summers and fall!
