No pancake day here. I'm not a fan, but i never had them with Nutella. Nutella's actually becoming more popular here, i've seen it a few places recently.

Ah, not a fan of pancakes at all . . . don't get me wrong, they taste good! But if I eat them in the morning I'm sick and shaky all day long, even if I have eggs and/or some sort of meat to balance out all the starch. Not to mention they're a TON of empty calories.

I had pancakes with lemon juice and sugar so did Hubby
Kids got Golden syrup and Chocolate Sauce I've a sneaking suspicion that Kieran put syrup, sauce, juice and sugar on the same pancake. Decided the best course of action was to not ask and not to look.

We are now in deep discussion about what we are giving up for lent. Had to point out to Kieran giving up School or Washing isn't an option. I on the other hand am thinking about giving up an 8 year old son!

^^ Pancake day fell on 'Fasching' which is a huge tradition for Germany and Switzerland, so we were dressed up all silly anyways.... I dropped my pancake though :(

Around here it is called "Fastnacht" Day. Fastnacht's are basically hunks of fried dough, covered with a bit of cinnamon sugar.

Ahhh, the Amish influence. LOL

What is a pancake race?

"Charity or school events are often organized on Pancake Day. One popular event is a "pancake race" in which each participant carries a pancake in a frying pan. All runners must toss their pancakes as they run and catch them in the frying pan. This event is said to have originated in the town of Olney, England in 1444 when a housewife was still busy frying pancakes to eat before the Lenten fast when she heard the bells of St Peter and St Paul's Church calling her to the Shriving Service. Eager to get to church, she ran out of her house still holding the frying pan complete with pancake, and still wearing her apron and headscarf."
