yes... my parents would take Armani because he knows and loves them, he knows the environment, as we go visit often, he gets along well with their dogs, etc.

In the future... if they were gone... he would go to my sister until she found a suitable home for him... she is not a dog person but she knows what I want and what he needs and would be able to provide enough care until she could find the perfect place.

As well, my parents have made it clear that if something were to happen to them, they would want me to take the poodles.

I don't have a dog yet. When we get one if something were to happen to us it would go to family.

Also if we were in our means to do so and if needed I would do everything in my power to ensure that if needed any Chaz dog had a place here.

my backup plan has a back up plan
And another backup plan and another backup plan.

'cause you know us Chazzers would be fighting over who got to keep Mary. I'd be offing people just to have her. LOOK AT THAT FACE.

I've only got my kitties right now. They would go to my sister and parents.

It's because I don't have a lot of money right now (plus being in an anti-dog apartment) that I don't have one right now. I can't afford more vet bills, even annual checkups, and just have to ride it out until I have a steadier income. I'm in school right now, hopefully I will have more moolah once I graduate. :)

Training was the biggest safegaurd i could give Victor and Pepper. WIth the issues they came with, no one would have wanted them. Now i feel that if something does happen to me they will be more adoptable. THat is just as important as having a backup plan. IF your dog has issues that could make it hard to be rehomed, then those issues need to be addressed.

I've got a list of people in my life who could take my animals:
  • My mom
  • My aunt (but she's in TX so it would require transport)
  • My best friend
  • Shippo's breeder would take Shippo back
  • I'd certainly see if anyone here would be interested lol
  • My dad, although it would be my LAST choice

this is a good bit of information. I agree wholeheartedly! I only wish I was a better trainer--and I do keep trying to learn more. I think this is something that really needs consideration though.

For my two girls right now, if something happened to me, my mom and dad would take Bella and Zoey both. If I had another puppy/dog that wasn't from rescue my breeder may take the dog back, or my sister or parents. Everyone in my immeidate family (Mother, Father, Sister, and half-brother) are animal lovers, and my brother is espicially a dog person. I bet if something was to come up, he'd take Bella. If fact, he was going to take Bella when she was looking for a home before coming to me...

If something happend to all of us, like say we were on a family trip, and all died somehow, I don't know. We have 7 dogs, and 6 horses, and a pony, and a ton of goats and sheep. Goats and sheep probably to a friend of ours, and probably some of the horses too, and maybe one of the dogs. My aunt would probably take one. A close family friend would take one. The two oldies (Callie and Sasha) would probably be PTS if they were still alive. Morrie'd go back to his breeder... And Bella'd probably be SOL - sad as it is... But then again, my trainer might take her...

I've never really thought about what I'd do if my family wasn't there to take them. All I know is they wouldn't be sent to shelters.

depends when it happens...

as it stands right now mum gets ALL the dogs...
after my sister hits 18 IF she is financially stable in a position to be able to properly care for them, SHE has the option of taking the cresties...but mum is happy to take them should anything happen to me before her...

if shes gone the dogs will go to friends familiar with my dogs, though my bf, if were still together will have the oportunity if he wants to keep the cresties, but hes not realy a "dog person" and he wont even take ruby out lol.

i do have a will because i wasnt supposed to live past 13 so considering that, i always make sure there is a backup safety plan for any pets i have/get.

not every dogs issues at being rehomed can be addressed.

Beezers problems don't stem from a lack of training. it's his anxiety and the life he has lived so far. He is VASTLY improved from when we first got him but if he were shuffled off to another home at any point... you might as well just forget the progress we've made with him.

My mother or father would definitely take Ozzy. Even a neighbor that lives near my mother would love to have Oz if anything happened to Steven or I.

Enzo, I don't know about. My mother doesn't like her, but I think she would do her best to find her a good home. That is definitely something I need to work on. Steven doesn't really want anything much to do with Enzo, since she is very much MY dog. My father might take her, but I doubt he could adequately keep her. If all else fails, I'd set something up with lab rescue..

My parents will take the beagles.

Everyone who has ever stepped foot into my house has loved Chance. I KNOW that someone I know and love would give him a home.

BUT- before that home was found, my parents would even take him in until they found that home. They just wouldn't be able to handle their husky, my beagles, AND Chance.

If anything happened to my parents, I would take their husky, Mocha. I know that would put me with the same 4 dogs my parents couldn't handle, but me being a huge dog lover, wouldnt mind if they took over my life lol.

My brother and sister in laws dogs, well Rossi the lab mix has DA- and doesnt like strangers either, so his best option would probably, sadly, be PTS. But my family would take him and sit with him until the last second.

Their chi- hes a crazy little guy lol. He doesnt like my parents dog, but he grew up around my dogs (they spent the night at my house a lot and brought RJ with him.) so he would probably come to me.

I only wish everyone had a huge support system. I am lucky that my parents and my brother, and my SIL's parents all own their own homes with backyard and no breed restrictions, so if a dog had to be secluded in the backyard until a home was found, so be it. But yes, I do have backups all the way around lol.

My parents get all of my animals, as I would get all of my parents. I would also take my best friend's pets if something were to happen to her. Once I am on my own, any Chaz dogs that need someplace to stay would be welcome at my house as well.

The more the merrier, for me!

my backup plan has a back up plan
Hear hear!

I do too - I have so many backup plans, my fiance thinks I'm nuts. :D

Not only do I have people who could take them, but they're well behaved, trained, fully vaccinated (with complete documentation of vetting, breeding, ownership, training, certifications, etc), and used to change. They've had sleepovers in other houses, etc.

It's very comforting, knowing my pets will be safe if something bad was to happen to me.

Yes, but does the backup plan to your backup plan have a backup plan?? :p

And I agree fully. And if no one has a backup plan, it's never too soon to get one. And not just if you were to pass away, but for other areas in life as well, like if you were to lose your home and ended up on the streets. Do the dogs have somewhere to go until you can get a new place to live? In today's ecomony, nothing is a surprise or full-proof anymore, not even losing your home.

I signed a contract with my breeder stating that if for whatever reason I could not keep Pit, I would return him. Unfortunately, shortly after I visited my breeder last summer, he passed away. I'm not sure how it would work now actually.. :s

In case of death OR emergency: My parents will always be there to back me up just in case for both of my dogs and my rabbit. One of my good friends would take Teeny and Blue in a heartbeat, Teeny moreso (she owns her half-brother). I have another friend who could temporarily house them for me. Both breeders would take them back if I couldn't keep them. I could easily even board them at work if I had to. I have friends who would move into my place to care for my dogs if say I went into the hospital.

I have about A GAZILLION back up plans for my dogs. They will never see a shelter or a rescue.

ETA: When I had Mike, my dog with issues, the ONLY option for him was PTS if something were to happen to me. My friend would have taken him (in the end she came with me anyway when I put him down) until she could get the appointment, but I would not have put anyone in danger by willing him to them.

Mine are all sorted...

If just me, then hub would keep them, if both of us... like this:

Mindy: My good friend, then my daughter, then my Mom
Di: My Daughter, though I am aware she may not transition easy being blind
Molly: My Daughter or one of two friends who want her now.. LOL
Max: My Father in Law (He pretty well lives there anyway)
Foster: Wherever my son is... He'd be/ In the case of the unimaginable, that something happened to my son as well, my Mother In Law

Cats: My daughter, or my Mom in Law

Birds: I have a good friend with 3 parrots and we have a longstanding deal that should something happen to us, the other takes the birds, though I have a friend who'd also love to have Dixie... and they are provided for in my will as they, esp. Dixie will likely outlive me.... I also have a life long membership with a great Avian Rescue in an emergency.

My Dogs/Cats are not in my will, enough know my wishes I did not do that..... maybe I should...
