We all know how this thread got inspired. If something were to happen to you what would happen to the dogs?

I don't really. I know my mom would take Miley. Bandit and Spanky... sadly I have no plans. Anyone want to be my twin terrors' God Mommy/Daddy?

Yes.

And even if I didn't, I sure as heck wouldn't abandon her at a shelter to die, no matter HOW hard I had to work to prevent it. I made a promise to her when I brought her into my home. A promise I make to all pets. Life may throw hardballs, but that doesn't give you the right to skirt your responsibilities.

Hmm if anyone on Chaz would take my four that'll be great...but no, I would most likely PTS. They will NOT EVER be separated, so rescues, ect is out the picture and I don't have friends or family who would take all four. Maybe my sister and if I've moved out maybe my mom, but they are better off getting put down than in the hands of those two.

steve is easy- he'd go back to his breeder. i know that in any immediately needed scenario, my parents would do their best by my dogs, but i don't think they could deal with luce longterm. it's something we've talked a bit about, because any potential new home for luce would require serious vetting.

Charlie would go to my mom, as for Kenya, i dont know. if I couldnt find anyone, she would go to a rescue where she would be placed in a foster home or I would find someone on GSD forum. Kenya would need a home with other dogs to be happy so that would be a requirement

I made a promise to Kenya the day i got her. That she would NEVER go back to the horrible place i got her from, and from that moment til the day she died, She would be loved and cared for.
I plan on keeping that promise

If I were to die... I don't have anyone that could take them (I mean if Brian and I both died) so right now I don't have a plan for that :(

But for anything else... if we HAD to get rid of them for some reason... I would do my best to find Belle a home... she would transition really easily.

Beezer.... I honestly think the most humane thing for him if he had to leave us would be to put him to sleep. I don't think he would survive another owner change.

If I could at all help it they wouldn't just be dropped at the shelter

Yes, I have two good friends that can take Brenna short term if needed,(A week MAX) and if a week is not long enough then I would take her back to the shelter until i could get her again. I already take her to the shelter about once a day and put her in with the big dogs to play and whatnot, so if I had to leave her there, she would not be stressed out at all, she would be unhappy yes, but she knows the shelter is a safe place as she lived there for about 3 years before I could get her.

Yes. My father could take the dogs and would take any of them. If say we all passed, then the dogs would go back to their breeder. The pap's breeder would even take Trey. I don't know if they'd keep all the dogs forever or adopt them out, but I sure know they'll ALWAYS be in a loving home.

The backup plan for that is the PCA breed rescue since the breeders and our other pap friends work with that rescue.

In our case, it's only an issue if something took us both out.....the 'ran over by a bus' deal or whatever, and chances are at least one of the dogs would be with us. The whippets would go to one of several whippet folks, and Sport has lots of offers of places to go now, so doubt it would be a big issue. (And in the menatime, he would only go elsewhere if something happened to our son too, since he's his dog.)

That would only leave a couple of the jrt's...depending on which ones, they all could be rehomed....would have to look into that one I guess. (Thinking more of having something on paper so that it gets done the right way.)

Yes. Even if something happens to both Mark and I.. even the horses.
My horse would be easy. I have people left right and center trying to buy him off of me all the time. For a fair chunk of change too. But he'd go to my old trainer. He's the horse she has been dreaming about all her life and he'd be treated like a god over there.

But the dogs... ugh. Now this is pushing me to make a plan.

If I were to die, my dogs would go to my brother along with 200k to care for them.

If I were still alive, I would always find a place for us to live together. I'm working on the DI policy, so that even if I became disabled we would get checks every month to help meet needs.

All three would go back to their breeders, and if not kept by their breeders, would all find fantastic homes through them. :)

Absolutely. My dogs would never end up at a shelters, especially a kill-shelter. Ever.

If something happened to me, my mom would take my dogs. All of them. And this has already been agreed upon. One day I will make a will, so if anything ever happened to my parents, the dogs will STILL have a place to go. They will never end up in a kill shelter.

And if we ever lost our home, and were living on the streets, every single dog has somewhere to go until we get another home, even if it takes a very long time.

I do not have a contingency plan, and i don't know how to come up with one. I have a large, difficult to feed, slightly neurotic hound, who howls. And an evil beagle. And no extended family. I do not know what would happen to them if my husband and I both died, and I don't know how to fix it.

Well if Steve was still around he'd obviously keep them. And if he couldn't for whatever reason I don't know what would happen. The rest of our family doesn't really like dogs so they wouldn't take them. Especially not Nanook. I think I'm the only one who likes Nanook some days!!!
