For the collar fanatics!

The comments about Voodoo's collar on my earlier post got me thinking. We should have a thread just for us people with this horrible addiction. I thought we could also post links to our absolute favorite collar-shopping places. I'm always on the lookout for new and wonderful collars. And I know that in the hours you spend browsing collar websites (Don't even try to deny it, you know you do!) you've come across some you really love.

I personally prefer leather collars. They wear well, last forever when cared for properly, and are extremely strong (a must-have with the Vood monster!). Here are some of my faves.

I've never bought a leather collar for my two. Maybe I'll try one someday.:)
I usually get the cloth kind...I've bought several from cozy critter. I just bought some from another place and I can't remember the name.

Even though I don't have a dog of my own, for some reason I'm still constantly looking for collars.
I like this site for their nylon and fabric collars, mainly because you can customize them almost any way you want. They've got leather, too, but I'm not entirely convinced on the quality.

And this site is definitely where I plan to get my leather collars from.

You guys are really bad for my finances. I spent close to an hour last night looking at leather collars online:rolleyes: . Still haven't found what I'm looking for, although the Paco collars are pretty nice.

If any of you have ideas, I'm looking for a nice leather collar for Meg. I love the sites you posted, Gempress, but my issue is, all the pretty ones are always huge. The widest I will go on Meg is 1 inch. Something pretty and feminine. I love the one Jess posted - I'm off to see what widths it comes in.

Edited - Darn that one is wide. This one http://www.pacocollars.com/pview.php?pid=125 is currently in the lead, but I am going to keep looking some more. Help me out, guys! Enjoy collar shopping on someone else's dollar:D .

Pete's Dog Gear has the best collars BY FAR! She does amazing leatherwork, including custom carving, and will do any kind of collar you want (she outfits Wally in only the best martingales, and Mike has two nice leather ones and a skull collar . . . Athena has to wait until she's full grown until I get her a nice leather collar!).

Her website is www.petesdoggear.com but it's still under construction. Here is a link to her photobucket where you can see some of her work (go through all of the album links at the top). http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/PetesDogGear/

If you decide to order tell her that Sis and Wally sent you ;)

I reeeeallly wish I could afford a Paco collar - I know they accept bartering, but I don't know what I'd have to barter... :(

You guys are killing me! I have the Paco collar website saved in my browser for about 3 months now and I picked out the same collar as Jess did... T-Bone's birthday is in September, there is absolutely no way I can justify buying a $70 before that *sigh* Did you see that they have matching wrist bands? :)

i bought my collar from a horse supplies store. I bought him a bridle leather collar with leather padding. I then got a bridle name piece engraved with HENRY and set into the collar. Then i just have his rabies tag and this cool star tag (same size as his abies one) that is rainbow coloured...so neat. Such a cool collar for such a cool dog hehe!

Ok, I know I've posted this awhile back. But we've had some new members since then. :D So, what's your favorite sites to buy collars from on the Internet?

Here's my favorite so far:

Not the fanciest website in the world, but the owner custom-makes gorgeous leather collars. That's where I got Voodoo's collar from, and it's held up very well.

The only collar place that I trust to make collars for my pit bull.
She custom makes, so the sizes are JUST RIGHT and Ella cannot back out of them.
I only wish they had more options for smaller collars. I fell in love with the orange/purple flowered one have, but 1 inch is the widest Meg can comfortable wear. It looks like there is one 1" embroidered pattern now, but I'm not really into the whole Celtic thing.

Anyone else have suggestions for some unique, girl-y leather collars? I found a Paco I'm in love with, but the price is a bit steep.

Why are all the nice collars so huge?

They have some beautiful girly leather collars on this site. Pricier than the pet store, but significantly cheaper than Paco.

I could see Meg wearing this pink-and-blue plaid collar:

And I feel your pain about collars. Zeus is a fairly large boy, but has a very skinny 16-17" neck. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to find anything made for a large dog in that size. I can only find these little 1/2-3/4" wide collars that don't look like they'd hold him. And of course, they have d-rings too small to clip a large dog's lead to. It gets really frustrating sometimes.

Dogma London, Around the Hounds, Masters Pride (leather), 2 Hounds Design, Best Friends Fashions.

I've only ordered from the last two.. but I like their work. I was really impressed with my BFF collar, it's incredibly lightweight and strong, and the collar is so neatly made.

I have my eyes on a Masters Pride collar... sometime later this year, I think.
