Do you call your dog mean names (like butthead, stupid, dumbass, faggot, etc.)?

I always find myself calling the dogs names like that, not when I'm mad at them, but just in general, and when I'm playing with them, and they don't seem to think it's bad at all.

Or am I the only one? :rofl1: I hope not.

I call them mean names in an excited voice when we're playing, but not when they're in trouble, because I don't want them to neccesarily associate it with being bad, but just being silly.

Sorta... Summer is often called Summer Dumber the Dumbest Dog Ever. I don't know why, she's not dumb at all, but it rhymes.

Beau is called Stinky and Beauzo. I get in trouble if I call him Beauzo around his breeder, lol.

I may call them bad dog in a loving tone, but that's about it. Homosexual slurs are not in my vocabulary though.

I call my girls "Mutt" and I suppose that could be bad... And I will call them stupid, or foolish, but I rarely swear at them... Hmmm... Really got me thinking - I do a lot of it without noticing.

I'm guilty also! They don't understand what your saying, just the tone your saying it in. So I always call Bruno names like that when we're wrestling, and its always in a playful voice.

Very often lol. Sometimes when I'm telling him what to do as well, sometimes in amusement, irritation, pretend indignance, lol lots of situations. Not it anger, I never really get angry with him though.

It's a dog lol. Most of what you say is gibberish to them. Tone and body language, that's a different story.

I say "what a puppy!" to him more than I swear at him though.

Well I don't swear which is odd in itself and I don't use slurs of any sort. The only names I use is "naughty" when talking to Willie.

Kaylee gets called Buttface, Stupid, Fat Cow and Trouble on a daily basis.

She actually tends to come better when I call her buttface, and that resulted in a lady at the dog park asking my friend who was with me in a horrified voice if I had named her Buttface because she came so well to it.

Also had a lady at my training club ask if Kaylee's name was stupid :D

Our Obedience trainers encourage people to give their dog a "bad dog" name, so as not to give their name any negative connotations. :p I usually just say "naughtyyyy", but I do think it has more to do with tone than anything.

I would NEVER call ANYONE fa***t... and I don't cuss at them, because to me, those words are hateful regardless. I do call them biatches, douchebags, and doofuses on occasion.

I call Ozzy a lot of names. Mostly jerk and jacka**. Other names too, so I really don't have a problem with it. Enzo gets called dumb a lot though :p. Even though she's really not dumb at all.

I do quite often, I call Kona many many names, Fatdog, Heifer, Dopey, mostly ones pertaining to her weight. Crackhead is a common one too.

I don't use racial or homosexual slurs, as I have a many of gay friends and just think that's unclassy
.
But you know what, I can look at Kona and say in a yippy voice "Do you wanna jump off a bridge?" or "Can I cook you for dinner?" and she'll just LOVE it.

It's all in how you say it.

B is called jackass fairly regularly. Probably other stuff, too. I don't yell at him, however, and he has no idea what jackass means. :)

I'm a swearer, though I can control it. No slurs, however.

When she's being a pain in the butt, I call her Goober. When she's reaaaaaaaaally being a pain, I've been known to call her a butthead. Rarely though.
