Well first off you will notice that every sentence people type starts with a capital letter. That means you hold the shift key down and then hit the letter.

The period (the dot at the end of the sentance) goes AT the end of the sentence NOT at the start of the next one. Breaking your posts into paragraphs would also help greatly.

If you want people to understand you, either here or when you are communicating with breeders, you have to make an effort. Perhaps some of the replies you have gotten back from good breeders is due to a misunderstanding due to the difficulty in prying the meaning from your typing.

What if the pup you breed barks more than your boy? What if the whole litter makes a racket?

Did you look at the links I provided?

Well, now that I actually read all seven pages of this, I'll agree with everyone who said not to breed.

For one thing, responsible breeders have done a lot of learning prior to breeding, and one of the first things they learn is that a dog shouldn't be bred on her first heat. So just asking that question indicates that you are not ready to breed.

Also, any responsible breeder would not place the puppies at 5 1/2 weeks. So if you got your female at that age, she didn't come from a good breeder, and that alone indicates that she isn't breeding quality.

Yes they do. You just have to go to the home page http://www.alfenlochcollies.com/index.html

I just clicked from the page I sent you to, back to the home page where all the contact info is right there.

yvesj, if you have really talked to knowledgable sheltie breeders, I would like you to tell me the health testing they recommend you get done on your dogs before breeding.
Still waiting for this to be answered...

It does seem a rather strange post but maybe it is the language barrier - would it be possible for your points to be posted in French, you may get the message over easier for the OP to understand?

So...if backyard breeders are only in it for the money...does that mean backyard breaders are only in it for the dough?

*rimshot*

ETA: Grammy, you made me bust a gut. :rofl1:

You're asking $500 as a stud fee for THAT?
Was there any actual need to insult his/her dog though? (thats the English spelling btw)

yves no need to be snarky....she has a point...your fee is ridiculous considering I could breed my bitch to the Westminster KC BEST IN SHOW winner, or a very close relation for a bit more than that, LOL.

Price is subjective as is quality...if she does not agree your dogs semen is worth $500 have the grace to accept it and move on to finding a pigeon that DOES consider it worth that. I can't wish you luck...tho.
But did it need to be said in such a nasty fashion?

Not everyone has access to the best education in every part of the world, maybe people are just trying their best?

Yes people should make an effort to punctuate and spell perfectly but its not always possible. Again could I ask if some of you could put your valid points across in French?

Oh wait, I did. My boy Mal is not (and will not) be at public stud, but he's got his hips prelimed, has a rally obedience leg, and points in the breed ring.

Sorry, but the world needs NO more BYBs.
Sounds a lovely dog but how would you feel if someone asked you if you really wanted to breed THAT?

Hmm yes its amazing. People can use a computer but can't find the shift key.

I did make a point in french. Didn't do any good.

actually being thick skinned enough to take critique on your dogs, and let it roll off, is part and parcel of becoming a breeder, IMO.

OP also said it was a joke (that post? this entire thread?)...so they seem on board with making light of a serious situation...you reap what you sow.

Actually, I was extremely surprised that everyone managed to remain as polite as they did.

Oh, and please don't act like a lack of education is the problem. My sister is in first grade, and she's known that a period goes at the end of the sentence for years. It's not a language barrier, either. Dekka posted in French, and guess what. It had a capital at the beginning, and a period at the end. Correction: It had an exclamation point... But still... :)

I'd deal- it probably wouldn't be the first time, although no one's been quite that blunt before (and indeed, I've gotten lots of encouragement to keep showing him towards his championship.) :p There's people that don't care for Mal, and lord knows he's not perfect. His ears could be a bit larger, and his ear leather should be heavier. His muzzle needs more fill, and his eyes could be a little more almond shaped, although some of that is that he's always EXCITED in the ring and tends to have big round shiny eyes at people. *sigh* The main thing I'd like to improve on him is better shoulder angulation.

Having a REALLY thick skin is part and parcel of being a breeder.

Yeah all of us Ontarians are backwoods hicks with no education. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.
Well you said that, however, if you can find where I stated or even implied that please feel free to point it out to me.

I have no idea what first grade means or what on earth a period is apart from a female monthly cycle. Not everyone is as sazzy as you in these things.

Thank you for your response. I do understand that having a thick skin is a needed in showing and accepting critisism of you dog is part and parcel but surely a constructive critique (see I do French;)) is better recieved than just calling the dog THAT.

Don't sigh he sounds adorable.
