This is why I refuse to fly. Yeah, it takes a lot longer to get where I'm going, but I don't have to check my self-respect with my luggage and I'm not giving the impression that by continuing to use their services, I'm ok with them groping kids.

Unless its firm business, or there is simply NO other way to get there, I now refuse to fly. I really don't care if they see me nekkid (hey, burning out the eyes of TSA agents sounds fine) but I don't think they have the right to see me, or anyone else, naked. And I very, very much care about being groped. Nobody touches me without my permission.

If that had been one of my boys, I'd be sitting in a jail cell right now.

Ditto X1000.

On the news just now they announced the TSA was changing their pat down policy. So we can only hope it's for the better and not worse. Ugh.

Down here it would be difficult to get 12 to convict on that, although Atlanta might be iffy. A foxy defense attorney would get a comparison between the TSA grope and child molesting, and maybe even a jab at the lack of background screening of TSA agents in his summation though, and the chances of that not sticking with a jury are really slim.

I think i've made it abundantly clear how I feel about the TSA and airport security. I think it's an illusion at best, expensive, uneccesary and intrusive. I think the scanners are nothing but a kick back to somebody's buddy to funnel them millions, if not billions for the illusion of safety from terrorists.

But I'd hardly call this a "groping" a "molestation" a "fondling" or any of the other overly dramatic, spoken and written to excite the masses and spread disinformation words i've seen, not just on here, but all over the place recently.

It was about as normal of pat down as one could expect.

I think the pat downs are dumb, for anyone, unless they have good reason to think you have drugs or bombs or weapons on you, otherwise keep your hands off me. I don't think they do anything at all other than slow things down and **** people off.

but I really don't like it when more drama is created than need be. Groping? that's the word that best describes what happens?

If anyone did that to Bev or Morgan there is NO reason for them to look in their waistband or touch their private places it wouldn't be pretty. The girl was in a tighter fitting outfit you can see there is nothing under there SERIOUSLY. UGH.

I'd have lost it at the point where the agent stuck her fingers inside the little girl's waistband. I mean, seriously, the kid is wearing skin tight clothing. Obviously she doesn't have a gun or whatever stuck in there.

Our soldiers aren't allowed to touch kids in combat zones like that. Why is the TSA allowed to do that to our own citizens?

And if they REALLLLLLLLLLY have to look down there to "protect" us why cant the parent do that. Heck Id even unbutton her pants for them to see. They do not need to be TOUCHING a kid there.

"Groping" is in the eyes of the grope-ee ;)

At one point when we had a client residing in the Knox County jail, Sheriff Buck (remember American Gothic?) proclaimed that anyone "non-official" was to be patted down before being allowed to speak to an inmate. Typically, this doesn't apply to attorneys or paralegals who are regulars, as my boss and I were, and the head jailer made sure we weren't subjected to it. He was ill for a couple of weeks and his replacement was an officious twit and I had to go through the patdown a couple of times.

I can tell you that, even though it was a nominal patdown, it was degrading and yes, it was personally intrusive. I wouldn't characterize it as a grope though.

The enhanced patdown procedures? Those I would call a grope.

Ugh. My dad was just watching The View and they were discussing this. Apparently the little girl had already gone through the scanner and was arbitrarily pulled aside for a pat down. So...if they didn't see anything in the scanner, why the crap did they need to grope a 6 year old girl in skin tight clothing?

Having been the subject of a "pat down" as I flew a couple months after the attack on Sept. 11th, I can say that it is indeed intrusive. I can honestly say that that guy got further than most of the guys I've ever dated. I was humiliated and beyond pissed off.

There is NO excuse to pat down a child. It's bad enough you see underneath their clothes. And no, I will never ever allow my child to be frisked for the sake of national security.
