I was just curious: how many Chazzers hunt? If so, what's you're favorite type of game?

I love wild game on the dinner table, but don't hunt. I can tell one end of a gun from the other, and that's about it. Luckily we have many friends who hunt and share their surplus. We recently had some grilled dove for dinner....yummm. My personal favorite is deer. Sooo good.

Hubby is probably going to take up hunting this fall. He knows how to shoot and is pretty knowledgeable about guns, but hasn't actually hunted. A friend of his has some equipment he can borrow, and wants to take him hunting. Woot!

My favorite to hunt are doves. My favorite to eat is wild turkey.... fried and breaded. I also enjoy goose and duck hunting and so do the dogs. :)
Hubby hunts every season there is! And my young boys are following suit.

We have hunters in the family..by marriage...happy about that...I get my occasional venison and duck. WISH it was more often...*sigh*. I'd totally hunt myself with a bow if it weren't for the extremely silly notion that you have to be out there at the buttcrack of dawn...WHAT is that about? I have enough trouble with 8am ring times for the hounds!

I would love to try hunting. But then, I suppose I'd have to learn how to shoot a gun or bow first. And actually be accurate with it! Meh. I'll just send Hubby, and wait at home with an empty oven.

Of course, I could try the new fad here in Texas and go feral hog hunting...with only a knife. :yikes:

At least hunting is what got me into Goldens !!! After Dad lost his ( our ) Irish Setter , I did research at 13 for Retrievers and fell in love with Goldens . So we got Point who retrieved duccks and pheasant at 8 weeks . The first time Dad took him hunting , when the gun went bang .... Point ran off and disappeared . He had jumped into the car through the window ..... the end of hunting season for him and he became my dog !

Just living to hunt and fish, nothing else really matters. My favorite is stalking deer and elk. Also waterfowl and upland birds to keep my dogs trained and to add a variety to the freezer.Nothing feels better than to fill the freezer with healthy protein for the winter.

lol when we were pretty skint my brother and dad used to go hunt rabbits, my mum would cook them into rabbit stew it tasted great, she didn't like it because she had to turn fluffy dead bunnies into dinner but I only saw the end product.
I dunno, now I feel like if I can't kill soemthign I shouldn't eat it, but each to their own.
I used to want to hunt, wasn't allowed till I was 12, byt he tiem I was 12 I really didn't want to do it.
My mum used to hunt rabbits to feed her dogs, she'd trap them, take her dog down, let them out and let her deerhound catch them, she coudln't kill them, the one time she shot one she felt awful, there it was, eating its food then bang it was gone.

I'm not relaly against hunting aslong as its done properly I applaud the people that go pigging and do it quickly and then eat all the animal, pigs and buffalo are ruining other animals habitat here and we need it, great alternative to factory farming.

Turkeys are my obsession. Nothing tastes better than a wild turkey.

Small game and waterfowl are a close second. I alse like venison, but I have personally found deer hunting to be almost...to..easy...to really enjoy. Is that odd?

Someday, I would like to join Buckshot out in his land and hunt some of HIS kind of stuff. That would be sweet. In PA you very rarely get or need to shoot over 200 meters.

My dad hunts deer and moose. I could never hunt.... I'd cry at the thought of killing Bambi :yikes: I know they say they don't suffer if you get a clean shot... but the thought of it just destroys me.

My dad makes a really good venison stew. Personally, I don't like the game taste of the wild meat. But he tricked me and said it was beef stew and didn't tell me what it was until after I ate it.

He's tried to get me to eat some moose meat, but I'm not brave enough. I've never tried duck or anything other than deer and like I said... that was because I was tricked...lol. His new thing is bear meat. I didn't realize people ate bear meat :yikes:

I love elk meat and deer meat. I don't hunt, but then I have rabbits, chickens, and goats for my freezer, so don't really need to get up and go hike around in the cold for fresh meat.

I love hunting. I don't shoot animals so I'm technically not a hunter :p but I love following in an experienced hunter's footsteps and taking pictures of the animals that we come across. I might hunt someday, it interests me. Not to mention that when I eat meat, I would prefer to eat (and feed my dogs) meat that I've killed myself rather than the hormone-fed, stockyard-raised stuff that people buy at the grocery store.

I get to go elk hunting for 2 days on Saturday. :) I'm excited!
