If you read my intro, you know that my new puppy was one of three dumped at my Dad's place. We have only had her since Monday, but she is pretty smart, a bit on the lazy side (compared to small dogs I've had in the past), and very vocal. By vocal, I don't mean barking. She sounds like she is almost trying to "talk" when playing.

We are pretty sure that she is a Husky mix or maybe Malamute because of her light blue eyes, but what else? Anyone care to guess?

I say possibly beagle, but hubby thinks chow chow, because the inside of her mouth has lots of black spots, but not her tongue. Her pawpads are also pink with black spots, but her hair is not long. I think her coloring is a lot like a beagle, and so is her tail and fur length.

We are guessing that she is about 8-9 weeks old. She weighs about 15 pounds and is almost a foot tall at the shoulders. She has wrinkles on her head. When she is sleeping, sometimes her ears stand up.

Here are some pics. I'd love to hear what you all think.

It's hard to tell at that age, for sure. Black spots in the mouth does not mean she has chow chow in her, lots of breeds (I believe including huskies) can have those.

I see bully breed in her, and my guess would be pit bull X husky. But I'm not so sure husky is right, either. It will be interesting to see what she grows up to look like :) she's beautiful!

Thanks for your input. We are pretty sure they are part Husky or Mal because of the light blue eyes. Are there other dogs with light blue eyes?

All three pups have the same light blue eyes. The male one was white/pale gray with dark gray markings and was gorgeous. He looked like a Husky, without a doubt.

I really prefer girl doggies, so I didn't keep him, but he was one of the handsomest pups I have ever seen. Both girls looked almost like twins.

A lot of breeds have blue eyes, and she'd need it from both parents because it's recessive. Not that they both had blue eyes, just that they both had blue eyed ancestors.

It's a common eye color in aussies, and some lines of bullies, but it can occur in any breed.

She's really beautiful though! It'll be neat to see what she looks like as she grows up. :)

Blue eyes could come from any breed or mix, though it's much more likely in some than in others. A lot of pit bull and pit bull mixes, as well as other bully breeds like american bulldogs, can have blue eyes. Australian shepherd is another breed that often has blue eyes and could possibly be in your pup. Huskies or mals could certain produce a blue-eyed pup, but that doesn't mean every pup with blue eyes is that mix. If she really looks like a husky and has some of that temperament as she gets older, it's likely she is part husky.

Then again, yesterday I met a dog that looked just like a slightly smaller than usual husky, except all yellow lab colored, with blue eyes. Mom was a purebred pug. So you can never know for sure....

Thanks for the info & compliments!

I think we assumed the pups had to be part Husky based on the eyes and the fact that the brother looks exactly like one.

I knew that Aussies could have blue eyes, but had no idea there were so many others that could. Very interesting!

I see husky for sure, and it's not just the eyes. And some sort of hound. We had an "oops" litter long ago that was husky/ridgeback and one of the babies looked EXACTLY like that.

My guess is husky/gsd. Sabling in the coat, blue eyes, head angles and size lead me to that.

I'll be curious to see what those ears do, and how colors change as she gets older.

I am also anxious to see if her ears will go up or stay floppy.

Her body structure really reminds me of a beagle we had. It would be great if she didn't get any bigger than a beagle.

I know I'm probably just kidding myself! LOL! It seems like we can almost "see" her growing.

She is adorable! Not sure on the breeds though it's so hard to tell at this age. Do you have pics of the other pups?

No, I don't. Sorry. My friend's rescue was on the way back home and I didn't have my camera. I dropped the other two off with her and then went home. I didn't even get pics of Cookie until several hours later.

I'm sure my friend will take pics of them and I'll ask her to email them to me. I'll post them when she deos. :)

I have a 365 day dog calendar, and the picture on saturday looks JUST like your pup. The puppy in that picture is labeled as a husky/pit bull mix.

What a beauty.

Awwww! That first picture really does look a lot like Cookie! Her fur isn't quite that long though.

By the way, one of her ears is standing up now. I'm sure the other one will do the same soon.

And.....

Pics of her siblings were finally emailed to me. They are not good photos, but anyway, here's the best one....

Both pups were much cuter than the photo shows, especially the whitish one. He looked so much like a husky, maybe because his ears were already trying to stand up.
