I won't even watch Animal Planet. It started going down the tubes years ago, but I stopped watching the network altogether when they started "Whale Wars." Hooray, a show that celebrates ecoterrorism! Umm, yeaaah.

Emergency Vets was my favorite show as a kid....I imagined working at Alameda East when I grew up, and when my family went to Denver I made my parents drive past it.

I used to work with the groomer on Underdog to Wonderdog. They weren't filming anymore episodes (at least not with her on them) when I worked with her, so I think it ended.

The baby shows were good, too...and Crocodile Hunter, and Big Cat Diary...*nostalgia*

I felt that way about the last REaders Digest I picked up. There was an article about the super smart pet store puppy and something else in there where they only showed part of the picture. One line..just one line about all the smart puppies waiting in shelters and I would have forgiven them but it wasn't anywhere in there. Made you just want to rush out and get one of those super brilliant puppy mill pups. : (

You guys are making me miss old animal planet SO MUCH. I used to love emergency vets, and breed all about it, and that's my baby (thankfully it ended before I found out what a BYB was or else it would have spoiled it for me).

Now I watch pit bulls and parolees and animal cops (though I am not a fan of some of them, especially Miami and REALLY miss the NYC one). And I think they show an episode of "growing up..." every day, those are good too. But I really miss emergency vets now.

They are far too human now, made even more obvious by their "animal planet, surprisingly human" slogan. Their shows now consist of people getting mauled by animals, and that very unfortunate "call of the wild man" show about some wild animal catcher.

They used to have the best documentaries on animals and wildlife and stuff!! I miss it too. I stopped paying for it a few years ago since all the shows were like reality tv shows with animals :(
