When talking about dating someone what age difference are you yourself personally comfortable with? Will you go older? Younger? How much so?

I am two years younger than my boyfriend. There doesn't seem to be an age gap at all. Two years is nothing. On the other end though I don't think I could be the one that was two years older. Depending on the individual it could work but as it is I have yet to meet someone two years younger that did not seem mentally younger than myself. I'm not into men a heck of a lot older than myself either. Someone around my age is ideal.

How about yourself?

Probably because I never had a father figure I was always drawn to older, trying to fill both even if I wasn't aware of it at the time. Jim had grown daughters my age. THey certainly didn't understand and had attitude toward me because of it. Jim and I liked to do the same things, camp, shoot pool, play dominoes, we were comfortable with each other, being around him was like having all your favorite clothes on, and doing something you like. I don't know how else to explain it. WE would sit on my car, leaning against the windshield looking at the stars at Humphrey bridge and I would feel so at peace. I never had that with anyone before or since.

I've always been attracted to older men, never been attracted to younger. I've been told that I've always been mature for my age, so that's what I attribute the attraction to. The guys my age (or younger) were immature, without goals, just drifting through life. That wasn't enough for me. The guys I dated/liked were anywhere from 2 to 9 years older and Eric is 11 years older than me. I'd say our maturity levels are pretty close :p

The norm for me was always dating a man at least 1-2 years older than myself........UNTIL I met Kevin (husband) LOL. He is 4 years YOUNGER

I think the issue in my younger dating years was finding a man (boy) who actually ACTED his age, so I normally ended up with someone older to try and compensate, LOL. Kevin on the other hand is most likely more mature in behavior than I am ROFL. The joke between us is, if we had met in High School........I would have been a senior, and he a freshman, I would have told the scrawny kid to get lost and laughed......then we would have never had the happy life together we have now!

Matt and I went to school together, and are the same age. Well... I'm 9 months older if you want to get picky ;)

A very close friend of mine is dating a man old enough to be her father (he has a daughter two years older than her in fact), and while it strikes many people as odd or whatever, they are very very good for each other.

Always been wise/mature for my age, so never thought I'd date someone my own age unless it was years out of college and found someone that had finally grown up. Much to my amazement, I found Dustin. We were in the same grade, but he's about 2 years older than me. He was one of the oldest in the senior class, I was the youngest in the entire class.

I have a friend that is dating someone two years younger than her own father. She's been with him since she was 15 or 16 years old. He even took her over state lines to IN when she was still a minor. She got put on house arrest for that. Needless to say, I'm not very fond of him. Even worse is she has a baby with him.

Im 31!! and Im comfortable with anyone from 25-45 yeah I know a HUGE age range, but hey whatever works for me lol :p

ETA: I could go even outside of those ranges a few years, depending on the person, and how compatible they are for me..

My husband is almost two years younger than me (1 year and 8 months)... but he skipped a grade so he was only one grade below me when we met.

I guess I'd prefer to be with someone within 5 years of my age.

My wife and I are the same age. Well, she's technically older (which I occasionally remind her). Her birthday is the end of July, mine is in early November. Same year, though, so she's like 3 1/2 months older than I am.

My sister, though, married a man 14 years her senior. 25 years ago when they got married, it wasn't that big a deal. She was in her late 20's, him in his early 40's. Now, she's 52 and he's an old man collecting social security :rofl1:

Let's see...
My 1st ex is 6 years older than me (31)
my 2nd is 8 years older than me (33)
my new boyfriend is 4 years older than me...(29)

Not much of a trend though I will say I've never dated anyone younger than me. I'll be 25 tomorrow and I don't think any of my age differences were ever a problem, though I still tease my most recent ex about being an "old man".

It may have been the cause of my recent divorce though come to think of it. Our age gap was enough that we didn't enjoy quite the same things like taste in music, etc. That's basically why we're divorcing, no hatred or discontent, just don't want to live with each other anymore.

I've always gotten along better with older men... not sure why, just have.

But I wouldn't have a problem dating a guy who was younger than me either. To me it's more of a "do we mesh" issue than it is an age issue.

The oldest I've gone is 5 years older than me, and I'm really not attracted to guys younger than me, because they're usually not mature enough and it makes me feel like I'm robbing the cradle. DX

Andy is just a year older than me.

I've never gone younger but I don't think I never would, just a personal choice.
The oldest I went was 8 years and that was when I was 18, so it was legal haha but I definitely won't go that old again we had different mindsets and everything. I think my age limit is probably 5 or 6 years.

I've almost always dated older men... at least by 2 years. In fact all my serious relationships were like that. My husband is 3 1/2 years older than me! The oldest I ever went was when I was 18... I dated a 26 year old! (26 sounded sooo old back then.... and now I'm 26 and I realize it's not old at all :p)

My ex fiance is 2 years older than me.

My ex from back last spring is a year and a half older than me.

The emt I dated is 4 years older than me.

And Ryan is 4 years older than me.

I prefer older, most 23 year old guys dont wanna find someone to settle down and have kids with yet.

Women don't really mature until 21 and men at 24 .
Really? I wonder what that means as far as relationships go, like is the perfect age gap 3 years, or does it matter at all as long as the woman is over 21 and the man is over 24, as far as how mature/compatable they'll be...
