I saw this the other day (FB, I think?)! What a massive disappointment. :( They were my go to treat place. Nola loves their jerky and minis. I don't think I'll be supporting them any longer. I'm so glad I have a small stock pile (huge PetsMart sale! Score) from before they got bought out. Too bad I'll have to ration it, lol!

I'm probably going to buy out two pet stores this weekend. XD

Just heard about it via their facebook an hour ago and sent a text to my SO who's at work at local pet store right now telling him he needed to hoard everything for me.

Man, reading through that facebook post, it looks like everyone is on the same page of completely disliking the decision and resolving to not by Zuke's anymore.

Bet they are starting to regret their decision.
Then again, there are always more uneducated buyers to fill in for the educated ones that leave. Sadly.

Well, that's just depressing. They were Roxie's favorite!! Any suggestions on different brands that have as wide a variety?

I've been using the natural balance line lately-

Their cat treatsare a lot like zukes in three flavors and half the size- PERFECT for training!

They also have "jerky" type squares, similar to wellness pure treats, but a little cheaper. :)

My dogs love the semi-moist biscuits, too.

I like Orijen cat treats a lot, too, but those are little more expensive and different. XD

It's too bad the company was sold, but if the ingredients remain decent I'll still buy them. I don't have an ethical issue buying from Purina---Lord knows I spent a small fortune on Purina Equine Senior when my mare was alive.

I used to keep a bag of Zuke's in my training bag as my go-to non-perishable treat (although they turn so hard when exposed to the air that Meg actually seems to have trouble with them). I'd already changed over to Wonder Nuggets, which are more expensive, but are fantastic. They are the only packaged treats my dogs go completely nuts over, and they smell so good I have been very tempted to try them myself (peanut butter cookies!). They stay soft enough that I can break them in half with gloves on while hiking.

i used to love zukes for training treats but their habit of going rock hard within days made me stop using them a long time ago

i get the old mother hubbard mini cookies now, break em in half, perfect tiny treats

You guys are better owners then me. I just cut up hot dogs and nuke them until they're jerky so they don't go bad. Gimmick goes batpoo crazy for them

We use all sorts of treats, mostly not dog treats haha. We use Zuke's sometimes and will probably still use them sometimes. I'm liking the soft buddy biscuits better though. THe dogs seem to like them better and they're easier to break into smaller pieces.

Did anyone else notice that Zukes changed its formula a few years back? They used to smell and feel really nice, but then something changed and they got greasy, they fell apart when broken into smaller pieces, and they smelled gross. I stopped using them a good while ago.

Also, pretty sure they weren't bought by Purina, but Nestle.

My guys like a variety, and since treats only make up part of their diets, I will probably continue to use Zuke's. They also love the Buddy Biscuit/Tricky Trainers, and Pet Botanics soft treats from PetSmart. I prefer the "trail mix" idea when it comes to treats anyway (so hot dogs/cheese/meatball mixed with their kibble and maybe some store bought treats).

I agree, I've been using buddy biscuits a lot longer now anyway. I still buy Zuke's on occasion but they do go hard quickly and makes it harder to break them in half. The Buddy Biscuits are so soft, and easy to break up into so many little pieces.

I really like the Bravo! training bites too but they're expensive.

I still feed Jackson soft milkbones on occasion, so I'm not terribly worried, but it still kind of sucks to lose another 'good company' by selling out.
