Is this driving anyone else crazy?

Tv writers have gone on strike... I don't really know the exact reason why and to be honest I don't really care lol.

But it is really starting to annoy me that all my shows are all reruns right now when they SHOULD be new episodes.

WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END????

^Yeah, that.

I'm on the writer's side, they deserve profits from DVD sales, etc. I think it's ridiculous that they're not getting it, if they didn't write the scripts, we wouldn't have movies/tv shows/etc. at all!

Yeah I really don't know any of the specifics of why they are striking or what they are asking for... all I know is I HATE it lol.

I want to see new episodes of House and Womens murder club....

Thank GOD my Young and the Restless seems unaffected by this lol

I agree that the writers should be getting profits from the DVD sales as well. Right now, I'd buy them all nice houses if I could afford it, just to get my shows back!

I was practically crying from relief when I saw that Lost IS coming back the end of January. The producers were saying that they only had half the season filmed, and didn't want to have to just show half. I'm not sure if they are banking on the strike being over in time to finish the season, or if they will just show it later, and I don't care! I've been waiting half a year to see what happens, and I want some answers!

As a writer, i agree 100% with the strike, and i can't exactly see why anyone would disagree.

And yes, it's driving me insane. How many reruns can you watch before you go insane?

Whoa. Like, this isn't affecting channels like...Showtime, is it?

Because if so, I'm going to be destroying things if "Dexter" gets delayed. I'm going to be waiting LONG ENOUGH FOR SEASON 3.

I have mixed feelings on the strike. Quite honestly I see where they are coming from and something does need to be done about some of the things like not getting profit for the DVD sales but on the other more selfish hand...I want new episodes darn it!!

I was very excited to see that LOST will be coming back however!!!

Likely, yes.
Because basically any well-paying, running show on television is going to involve writers in the Writer's Guild...and they're pretty much all on strike.

:( for fans of TV
:) that they're keeping it up and (hopefully) wearing down the greedy pigs who can't share their profits.

Good for them.. BS that they don't get profits from DVD sales.

And no, it's not bothering me, I seldom watch TV and get anything I really adore on DVD.. so I'm only watching reruns, if anything!

crap. Think the strike will be over by May?
That's when they start shooting season 3, I think.

Not only does it have to do with DVD's but the bigger reason is that they want royalties from download movies... http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/12/11/arts/Hollywood-Labor-FAQs.php

This will effect almost all TV and movies except for reality shows.

I understand where they are coming from, and hope that they are able to reach an agreement some time soon. I'm super frustrated though, I want to see the new episodes of the shows not reruns that I saw a few weeks ago...grrrr

again I don't know the specifics but on a purely selfish level this just makes me despise union types even more. yes the writers deserve these things but a lot of people in a lot of jobs deserve things they don't get and if they refused to work they would be fired and replaced... but the writers know they have them by the short and curlies because they can't just fire them....

again this is from a purely selfish "I want my dang shows back" point of view lol
