RFD, it's been pointed out that your veggies = human cake analogy is wrong. Cake is full of calories, veggies for dogs ARE NOT. My dog will not get fat from eating veg and fruit.

If you are so blantantly wrong with this, how can you be expected to be a reliable, trustworthy font of knowledge on anything else regarding the raw diet?

I think I'll go feed my dogs a peanut-butter dog cookie. I'll report back if this makes them explode.

Aren't you folks smarter than this? Are these the best responses you have? Y'all are really easy. :rofl1:

:rofl1: It's not about "smarter"..... it's about wasted breath (typing) now we just hijack the thread, dance around until you leave :D

I have lots of things I could post.........but of course, you would be right, and I would be wrong because they don't align with YOUR beliefs.

Like giving pumpkin to a dog with loose stools........works like a charm.

Sweet potatoes for over all colon health and stinky farts (for lack of a better term) also works GREAT!

Apple cider vinegar for urinary health among other things (in people, animals........cats too!) I've seen it do great things where the vet couldn't even get it under control.

There are many other things I could list, but that's ok.........I'd rather dance around the thread TYVM :D

I am glad to hear this! 1.) I don't personally find YOUR posts offensive :) and 2.) I LOVE the danes in your avatar, LOL
Heh, I have thick skin... ;)

You should see the sh*t fly on a motorcycle forum I belong to. A bunch of dog enthusiats are nothin' :p

But I will say that the attitude here pretty much matches the one of the Colorado Sportbike Club Forum, but over there it is just a bunch of men/boys with the occasional female (Zoom, Jon and I are members). Perfect situation for DRAMA, DRAMA :yikes:

And thanks! We love em too...and I am glad to see compassion in this thread.

Depends on what you call nasty I guess. When RFD states HE is right and everyone else is wrong, I consider that nasty *shrugs* When zoom posted links that went against HIS "personal beliefs" he shrugged them off and still reiterated he was completely right and everyone else was still wrong.......*chuckles* It's all opinion and decisions of individuals no matter what his OPINION may be on the subject, LOL
I guess again, what we all consider "nasty" is our own opinions. I didn't think that I was being nasty or hurtful in any way.

It took me about a year to warm up to RFD. I can honestly say that I didn't like the way he posted up about things, but I would like to take the credit for opening him up a bit...you should have seen him before now :rofl1:

People don't see it as "confidence" when someone with an *OPINION* states THEIR opinion is right and other OPINIONS are wrong. They see that as being arrogant ........plain and simple.
I think its all subjective, depends on the situation. Because this thread is opinion based, since there is no REAL scientific, clinical research done on a correct raw diet, this does apply. But you are correct, this is all based on speculation and no one is right or wrong. That's the beauty of debate.

One more thing to add on the topic of arrogant vs. confident. I quote from a movie (Lucky Number Slevin)

"The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle."
This is a great quote, thanks! I guess I can see why people see confidence as arrogance. But the way I post up is the way I have always posted up (on several different forums), and this is the first time that there has been a unanimous feeling from others that I am only just plain old arrogant. Of course there have been a few others out there that have said that, but this is the first time. I will honestly try and change to better cater to people here...

BTW, Jon, RFD and BabyDanes - welcome to the forum. You seem to have a passion for animals and have their best interests 100% at heart. I hope you're able to not only share your experience, but also learn from the experience of our other members as well.

Happy New Year, too :)
Thanks! I am always open to learning and gaining experience from situations...

And I actually joined a few months ago, and got a very warm welcome at that point :D

I'd never heard those before? AWESOME! I need to keep some sweet potato on hand. How much do you give?

I normally microwave them skin and all until they are soft (like baked potatoes you would eat yourself, LOL) and then pull the skins off and add them to my homecooked pot. (steamed or microwaved also helps break them down for easier digestion IMO)

But for kibble sake, I would say micro your tators, skin them, and then place in the fridge. Add a tablespoon or two to your kibble :) OR, dehydrate them and give them as snacks! Orson will trample a kid to get to them :rofl1:

You're correct. The point I didn't do such a good job of making is that nutritionally, cake is pretty worthless to humans as the calories are empty and the veggies are wothless to dogs because nutrition can't be extracted. There is NO nutrition in veggies that is not already in the proper canine diet of meat, bones, and organs. Don't you agree?

If you are so blantantly wrong with this, how can you be expected to be a reliable, trustworthy font of knowledge on anything else regarding the raw diet?
I'm not wrong at all, I just didn't word it so that EVERYONE could understand it. :) I strongly suspect that many people intentionally didn't understand the point because they know its correct and they didn't have an argument against it. They come up with inane little domments to mask that.

You are wasting your time cause I'm gonna be here for a long time.

I have lots of things I could post.........but of course, you would be right, and I would be wrong because they don't align with YOUR beliefs.
No, you would be wrong because you have no credible evidence to back up what you say.

Like giving pumpkin to a dog with loose stools........works like a charm.
It does work but it only masks symptoms. It never leads to the real cause of loose stools. All it does is absorb water in the intestines.

Sweet potatoes for over all colon health and stinky farts (for lack of a better term) also works GREAT!
Again, masking symptoms. Not finding the real cause so the problem can really be fixed.

Apple cider vinegar for urinary health among other things (in people, animals........cats too!) I've seen it do great things where the vet couldn't even get it under control.
I have not seen any proof it does anything. A large percentage of urinary or most any other physical problem will clear up on its own even if nothing is done. This is the basis of all things homeopathic.

But see? I HAVE seen proof.......and sometimes, helping the symptoms is all you can do till the problem passes, sort of like taking cough syrup while your sick ;) And yes, dogs fart......can't stop that one. Orson still farts, but he doesn't clear the room when he has his sweet tators :D

I have a friend with 6 cats. One of which is about 13 years old. This friend is VERY dedicated to her pets and has tried everything under the sun for this one cat (13 years old) every kind of diet, vet suggestions.......you name it, she's done it. Doesn't matter, this cat averages about 3-4 UTI's a year. She started ACV about 6 months ago, gives it to ALL her cats and yep........the one prone to UTI hasn't had a single episode where she would have normally had at least 2 by now.

So really, you and your *opinion* mean nothing to me. I HAVE seen things work.......don't care much what you have or haven't seen.

Point in fact..........WASTED BREATH so I will resume dancing on the thread now :D

I didn't read thru the multiple pages of bickering, but I will say:

"My name is Dan and I am a raw feeder"

Going on 5 yrs now, Gunnar has been raw fed since he was about 4 months old, Daisy has been raw fed since the day she came home, Bruzer started on raw when we switched Gunnar over. I'm very happy with the results. I will feed kibble now and then, grain free only. Maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks. I also fast them about every 10 days or so.

I won't take sides in the arguments. I like too many of you guys and won't force my opinions on anyone. Either you feed raw or you don't, it doesn't matter a bit to me.

:hail: Exactly Dan :)

AND..........we wouldn't care if you fed raw meat AND veggies, even tho that apparently is all wrong! hahahaha

I'm quite sure it's also wrong to give them kibble a couple times a month too! But that is ok with us.........better check with RFD on that to be sure though! :rofl1:

With a proper diet he wouldn't clear the room either. My Dane's farts USUALLY don't smell. Occasionally they will clear the whole house. :rofl1:

Probably because she never really gets rid of it. Carbs are big aggravators to UTI's. Take carbs out of the diet and the UTI's can be cleared up permantly.

She started ACV about 6 months ago, gives it to ALL her cats and yep........the one prone to UTI hasn't had a single episode where she would have normally had at least 2 by now.
Yeah, but take the snake oil away (acv) and the symptoms return. The problem is most likely diet related.

So really, you and your *opinion* mean nothing to me. I HAVE seen things work.......don't care much what you have or haven't seen.
Yes, exactly. I saw a Magican make the Statue of Liberty disappear. :rofl1:

Dance away, Sweet Cheeks. :rofl1:
