Daisy and Benji pretty much have free reign. We do keep the basement door, my mom's bedroom door, and the attic closed off because otherwise Benji thinks they are his personal bathroom. Both dogs are pretty good. Benji has NEVER chewed anything, even when we first got him (except a wooden clothespin). Daisy was crate-trained as a pup, but once she matured she was allowed to be free in the house. We just have to make sure there's no food left where she can get it, or paper towels or food wrappers left in the TV room wastebasket, or we'll come home to ripped up things all over the floor.

Blaze gets free run of the house. Hes a good boy so deserves it. he ha snever really been crated. as we normally always have some one home. he is hardly ever left home alone(maybe once every week or 2), you would think he would have seperaton anexity, but he doesnt.

Xena has free reign of the house. When she was a pup, she was crated when we left the house or when we went to bed. As she grew, she earned more freedom - we'd leave the house for maybe 30 minutes and not crate her - we'd start leaving her out of the crate at night. Eventually we simply stopped crating her. The crate is still set up as sometimes there is a necessity to put her there depending on the situation and sometimes she goes in there to sleep.
That's how we did it, too, Eddie. Although, with Caleb, we went from the crate to an xpen, the freedom. Mainly because he outgrew the crate before he had earn complete freedom.

Jenna is free to roam the house, since she was housebroken she has been fine. We let her out to do her business before we leave, then we come back 4-5 hours later and let her out again, she never had a mess before when alone. The only exception being when it thunders, if it thunders and we are gone and there's no one to let her outside before it gets really bad she would sometimes(not always) pee on the floor. For the most part she wouldn't she would just hide in a corner and shake. Usually she can keep her pee in till we get home even with thunderstorms though. She is slowly getting better at dealing with them though, last month we had several thunderstorms and she's doing better than she used to :D.

We actually ended up buying two different crates as she out grew them. First when she was like 9 pounds she was in a small carrier as her crate. Then we actually bought a crate when she out grew the carrier and finally bought one of the double-door ones as she got even taller. For a while, we thought she was going to keep getting taller and taller with her freakishly long legs. I figure she's part white tail deer as well.

Izzy gets crated when we're gone. She get anxious if a person leaves the room/house and closes the door behind them even if there is another person left. She really doesn't like it when people leave her alone in the house and she will find something to chew on (We found this out when she learned to open doors while I was at school once and found pieces of sponge everywhere!) She's fine in her crate with a chewy though.

They are crated and not because they can't be trusted. I use to leave a couple loose all the time when we left with no issues. However, they are crated in the event of fire. They are crated between a window and a french door so they can be easily rescued and that is the only reason all of them are crated when we leave.

Well so far Sam has been very good about behaving while we're. We don't crate him usually. He has only been in his crate to get him used to it.

Amber is free to roam downstairs. Junior is crated upstairs because he's a serious chewer. We're moving his crate downstiars though so he can look outside and not be completely bored. He gets let out at least every three hours, because my dad works across the street from our house.

Lizzie and Major have free roam of the house. Blaze and Jake are both crated. I'm seriously tempted to allow Blaze to have free roam of my room, though.

Summer is left loose in their 'room' or sometimes I leave the door from the closet to my room open. Mia is crated. If Mia was not crated I have no idea what I'd come home to find. O_O

Mine are crated. Tyr would likely have potty accidents because of his SA, Ares would quite possibly get into something hazardous to his health, Nyx would probably chew up something and if Morgan were left loose, the others would get too worked up wanting to be with her.

Ollie is my first Crated dog . He was rehomed from his first adoption because of getting into trouble when they went out . When he knows he can't go with me , he heads to the kennel and waits for his treat and toy . We're both happy !

Between the backyard and their room aka the garage. We lock the door between the garage and the kitchen.. and of course the gate to the backyard.

They have free range of the house unless we are away on vacation and have our house sitter here, then we put the baby gate up to the upstairs. Kassie is able to go upstairs but not down and we don't want her stuck upstairs.

Our house has two living rooms , one of which we've designated as the dog room . When we're not home the two oldest are left loose in their room and the three younger ones are crated . That way we know everyone is safe and out of trouble . Our two males get into the occasional spat here and there , so we never leave them loose together unless under direct supervision .

the hound brothers stay in the bathroom--they like to be together, and neither do well in a crate by themselves. Likewise, I don't trust that they wouldn't get into something if left loose in the house. They do fine in there, and have plenty of room to move around. I just have to remember to put the hairbrush where Wilson can't grab it and chew it to death.

Ivan is crated when we are not home or at night. Peewee is usually outside where he prefers but occasionally he is in the house.

The boys are confined to the laundry room with water, pee pads, and a few toys. They do well that way and would get in too much trouble with free run of the house.
