Hmmm, this is hard for me to say! I have a lot of clothes but most are quite old! I bought a dress at Macy's around the holidays. I shop at thrift stores a lot but not so much clothes.

H&M is probably where I shop the most. Mostly I get t shirts when traveling or at concerts, small markets, art fairs. I wear a lot of relatives hand me downs. Or stuff they buy then change their mind on. About half my wardrobe is my boyfriend's stuff I stole tbh.

I usually get bathing suits at target or TJ maxx. I think I've reached an age/wardrobe where the majority of my clothes are in my life long-term so I really only update like underwear, leggings (I buy from a guy with a table in the local hospital lol), undershirts. My jeans all came from express or Pac sun years and years ago. Dresses, tops, sweaters, dress pants mostly came from TJ maxx or Macy's long ago.

Used to shop at places like JC penny's, kohls, forever 21, Charlotte russe, 5-7-9, but those clothes fall apart within a year. I'll spend more on clothes if I know they'll last me ten years

Question for those of you that buy "cheap clothes"...don't you find you end up spending more in the long run as the clothes wear and tear or get ruined so easily?

When I bought clothing at cheaper places, not really target but wal mart or kohls especially, even penney's, they'd fall apart so fast. Some stuff I bought at kohls started unraveling after one or two washes. All my clothes from places like that have runs, tears, fraying, etc. they also seem to lose shape (shrinking or stretching out or whatever).

Since I started paying more per item clothing wise (and trust me nothing I buy can be considered remotely expensive, but not the $2 clearance kohls stuff) I've found I've spent way, way less on clothes annually/in the long run due to not having to replace it every year or season. I just got sick of wearing stuff 5 times and having it fall apart.

Bras I get from brastop online only. Seriously if you're a larger cup size shop there! It's amazing the difference and there's actually good selection.

Work pants come from the Limited only. I've tried New York and Company pants and many other brands but the ones from the Limited are the best. They are thicker material and don't wear out nearly as fast plus just tend to look nicer.

Everything else is kind of a hodgepodge. Old Navy, Maurices, random mall stores, NY &Co, Target. Wherever. I do really like TJ Maxx.

I basically only buy business casual and then like workout/agility clothes. Those tend to come from Target or Academy. I have to wear slacks to work so I end up just bumming around in athletic type clothes most weekends.

TJ Maxx and Target mostly. Sometimes Old Navy but the past several years it seems like Old Navy doesn't really have much...

I have a pair of pants I bought at Target, they are actually some fashionable plaid pants that became part of my business-casual wardrobe. I bought them at some point when I was in high school, I would guess 14 years ago. Wore them for five years while I was at the station. I just unpacked them out of the box and wore them again this week. They are in great shape. Not even faded. Nothing fraying.

About four years ago I got rid of a lot of my screen t-shirts and bought a bunch of plain ones from Target or Old Navy, super cheap $5 t-shirts. Only one of them needs to be turned into a cleaning rag and that's just because I pulled it on over my head when I had benzoyl peroxide on my face so it has bleach marks all over it.

I also have two pairs of Levis I spent $70 on about two years ago, they are wearing out while my $15 Mossimo jeans from Target are still going strong and it's been anywhere between 9-12 years since I bought those. They DID last longer than the $30 Silver jeans, but then again the $15 Mossimo jeans also beat those by a massive stretch.

So no - I don't find that at all.

Target, Kohls, Old Navy, Maurices. Maurices is the only place that has jeans that fit me, now that Delias is gone.

Strictly speaking shirts:

Johnny Cupcakes is awesome (though very expensive)
Merchnow for band merch, although BMTH has their own store, and Our Last Night is on bigcartel
TeeFury has some good fandom stuff
TeeTurtle has some cute stuff, fandom/nerdy (I have a frickin awesome "pika-minions" shirt from there!) too
Anti Clothes has some super awesome wearable art for super cheap.

All of that is online. I rarely shop in store except for the Goodwill store for pants, target for other things.

beanie - you missed the part where I said not target!! Lol my cheap target clothes have (some/mostly) lasted forever! Old NAvy I don't really shop at. But Kohls, wal Mart, k mart, penney's, and cheap stores I used to go to in HS like Mandy's/Dots, wet seal...none of it lasted. Old Navy and Target aren't nearly as cheap as those places, though.

I only really own more expensive jeans because I find it really hard to find jeans that fit me. I have a pair of Levi's I spent $10 at the thrift store a few years ago, but mostly express jeans ($35 on sale, God only knows not on sale) which I've had for like 8 years now and look new (the label fell off one but you can't tell. In HS and onward I wore tilt pack sun jeans - I still have a pair probably 11 years old and the others wore out after 5-10 years of skateboard, swimming in the ocean in them, etc.

My mom bought me a pair of jeans I think at target when I was in the hospital, and within six months the button fell off and the belt loops ripped off when I was pulling the jeans up by them :(

Express for all my pants and dress shirts, because they are in tall sizes and don't fall apart. Target for dresses (one fell apart, others are still going) and underwear. Costco for socks and slippers, also for Paradox "under armor " type stuff. Goodwill for everything else. I've even bought bras there.

I Hate shopping, and I'm a creature of habit. I've been wearing Costco socks for 6+ years, and got my first pair of Editors 7 years ago- and I still have the pair. If I'm going to spend money, it better LAST.

I forgot Old Navy.

But no frankly I haven't had any problem, and I don't exactly take care of my clothes so well. The only clothes I've got rid of were typically stained or too big.

The thing is... I got a cat. She can destroy my new sweaters/jeans/shirt in 10 seconds by jumping on my lap and getting her claws stuck... I cook a lot and always end up with stains on my clothes... it's just not worth it to spend more.

No, I didn't, but from having worked there and seeing internal stuff about their apparel I simply disagree with the assessment that they don't produce cheap, crappy clothes. They definitely do.

I bought jeans at Kohls when I was in middle school, then I got curves and they no longer worked for me, but they didn't fall apart on me. I also never had the issue at Kohls where I could try on five pairs of the same size of jean and they all fit differently (hello Target.)

Thrift stores. Especially in Seattle, you can find some super fancy nice stuff in the more affluent areas.

I bought some clothes from Target last year. They're still holding up just fine. I had a giftcard then and have a gift card now, or else I don't know where I'd go clothes shopping.

Most of my clothes I've had for the past 4-5 years. Mostly from Kohls or JC Penny. I still have two pairs of jeans that I bought my senior year of highschool (so, 2007?) from Aeropostle and they not only still fit, they have held up AMAZINGLY well. One pair has thinned in places and now has holes in both knees, but the other still looks mostly new. I have never had any other pairs of jeans last this long.

I also bought some shirts from Old Navy last year? and they're doing just fine, too. Again, I had a giftcard.
