so if a rapist/murdered/peodaphile believes in jesus he gets to go to heaven but a charity fundraiser/all round good and kind person doesnt belive she/he goes to he!!.
Ok, maybe I should change my statement. lol You have to follow God to be able to get to heaven. How about that? I guess 'believe" isn't the best word because you can believe in alot of things. You have to follow Christ to get to heaven. Because a murder/rapist/etc. wouldn't be following Christ, now would he?
(And remember...not trying to start a debate here. :) )

Renee... You are the only person that I have ever heard think about the energy thing. I totally get it and pick up on it. It's what I have always thought about. Great minds must think alike ;)

Rose's Gal - you are right when you say a murderer/rapist would'nt be a follower of Christ, because his actions would be good and pure and not evil and harmful if he was a true follower.

I do believe that someone can become a believer after a terrible act, many do find God after they are sent to Death Row, and if they ask for forgiveness, they will receive it. I know that is hard for a lot of people to understand, how someone so evil could go to heaven, but the beauty of it is - you can't fake it. God would know your true heart, and if you were truely repentive, yes you would be forgiven.

ok sorry it jst was worded wrongly.
yeah to be a follower of god though only means that you live a pure and good life, it shouldnt mean that you regularly attend church, pray each day and say grace, a true follower of christ is someone who lives their life to the full appreciates everything they are given and feel blessed at every good thing that hapens. that is who will go to heaven

I dont think you must follow christ to get into heaven. That is a very biased and somewhat disturbing concept. If you do good in you life, then you should get into heaven. No one is great enough to say who makes it and who doesnt by the religion they practice and have faith in.

I was brought up to believe in the Trinity ....but let's face it if we believe in the Ten Commandments ( which I do ) this goes back to the Old Testament and the laws of Jews... which Jesus was. I don't think the Maker of this earth would ever not let other faiths who believe him as the their God into His Heaven. Wouldn't it ( won't it !,) be grand if we knew !!!! I admire all who have a faith We need it !

Ever since I was little, things with Buddhist teachings have found their way into my life. My favorite book as a child was The Contented Little Pussy Cat. Looking back and re-reading it I got a chuckle realizing that it is a Zen koan - nothing more, nothing less. One of my favorites as I got older was the story of "The Boy Who Drew Cats" - a Chinese Buddhist legend. When I was a teenager I devoured books by T. Lobsang Rampa, a Tibetan Buddhist monk. The older I got the more I was attracted to Buddhist writing. The teaching stories and writings that to other people are incomprehensible to me are like someone throwing a switch that turns on the light to illuminate everyday existence. The teachings speak to me on a very elemental level - an innate level, as if it is something I know and just needed to bring up from my unconscious mind into my waking awareness. And they fill my mind with light.

I believe it's all about faith in your maker. Mine happens to be Jesus Christ/God/Holy Spirit = the trinity. Good deeds do not "earn" your way into heaven. Your faith in Him, does. And there is not a scientific equation to determine this. Just as there is no evidence in who is "in" or "out"... e.g. those in 3rd world countries who haven't heard the word, babies that have been aborted who don't have a choice, those small infants that die early, etc. It's all in God's grace. And I'm not one to question His ways.

So, I have a eerie story that may fit into this thread...don't know if I believe it or not, but it has always made me wonder so here goes... My great Grandpa always loved blue jays (the actual bird) a lot. He spent a lot of his life just admiring the little birds and thought that they were very beautiful. Right before he died he told my great Grandma (his wife) that if he were ever to come back to her he would come back as a blue jay. Days after his death, a blue jay flew into her living room and sat on her coffee table. The blue jay was so tame it would eat out of her hand and it came every day... I even got to meet the blue jay when I went down to visit. I have pictures and it really was tame. No one had seen the bird before my grandpa's death and that story will always stick with me. She always believed that it was her husband. She has since passed on and I am sure they are both together now.. ;)

My friend had a real Pet Cemetery moment! She had a really beautiful grey persian cat that would always sit on top of the refrigerator while she was in the kitchen. Well sadly the cat died and they buried it in a shoe box in the garden. Two weeks later she was working in the kitchen and a grey persian cat identical to her cat came in the open window and got on top of her refrigerator and sat looking at her like her cat used to! She was really freeked out so she ran outside to where they buried the cat and the earth hadn't moved!!
She really believes that it is her cat as it has all the same mannerisms and everything!! Far too odd!!
