I go through spurts of this, where I think about how easy my life would be without dogs. Especially at 6am in negative temperatures when I'm trudging through the snow cursing at the dogs because they are taking too long to poop And I think about how I wouldn't ever have to worry about how many hours I'm away from home, the stress of maintenance people coming into the apartment would be obsolete, the MONEY that I would save.
And then I think about how boring that would be. Also, dogs are my social life.
I did decide the other night that the only dogs I'm ever going to own again are retired racing Greyhounds. I had forgotten about that. Until I walked out of the shower this evening and discovered that Abrams had ripped a hole in my comforter and pulled a ton of stuffing out.
Yup. Retired racers. Who would rather sleep curled up ON the comforter than chew it up and defluff it. At least he didn't eat the stuffing?
My plan is two dogs, either sport/sighthound combo or sport/herding dog combo. This is way in the future for me though. Like, many many years in the future since I'm still in college and I want to be able to start my career and have a steady income before I even think of getting another dog. Kai is still young though, being 5 and I don't plan on adding another dog with him. I do want to add a small pet in the mix, like a rat or guinea pig.
In the future, I imagine myself with purebred cats and dogs. I'm still debating what breeds though.
I will lease Neddy to you, and you can turn him into an agility superstar because apparently the only thing I've taught him is how to snuggle on the couch and let me manhandle him. LOL I'm such a slacker with this puppy!

I don't have specific breeds, but I think the perfect pack for us will be one super active dog that wants to do agility, and low key dog that can but doesn't need to, but wants to cuddle with a person. I would like them to be small, 12lbs max, but would also like at least one more bigger dog, just not Gage sized
I think my ideal is 3 dogs, with maybe going to 4 sometimes. I like the idea of a puppy, a 4-5 year old, 10 year old, and a senior. Bubbles and Kimma sort of mess up any plans for having age gaps with my current crew as they are only a week apart.
In terms of breeds, I think I'm sticking mostly with the Finkies and maybe adding in a wildcard here and there. Probably a Buhund, maybe a Toller, perhaps a Sheltie....
Well I am hooked on Boerboels, so my perfect group would be a Boerboel or another working/active mastiff and two terriers. I plan on adding another terrier pup in a few years once Pan is out his terrible teens. I want to get another pup before Teagan gets to old to emotionally handle one. I don't want the poor pup to be traumatized by a snarky old terrier. And I will probably loose both Teagan and Pan around the same time so I want another terrier around when that does happen.
Tyler though is pretty hesitant to add a third dog. I have no issues with it. I've pretty much always had three dogs or more around me at any given time other then now.
Oh, and if we consider more than just dogs, my perfect pets would be 2 (or 3) dogs, 2 ferrets, a dwarf hamster, and two outdoor/indoor kitties. On a lot of land, with a pasture and barn, and beef cows.
