If you dog could choose your Nextdog, what would it be?
Zoe only tolerates Rook, so I can't really list a vote from her. She hates bouncy and fast, especially spaniels and a particular BC, but there's no breed that she thinks is a-okay overall.
Rook LOVES Chihuahuas. I'm not sure if she feels the same about all tiny dogs, but the Chihuahuas she has met she has been obsessed with. With most dogs, she is either intimidated or she just ignores them. Dogs her size that try to initiate play get ignored. I'm not sure what her deal is there. Most dogs ignore her because she can't do normal body language, but I'm in classes with a Cocker and a MAS and both love Rook, but she doesn't really care. But Chis? OMG, must say hi, must sniff, must be reminded to be gentle because they are tiny.
My guess is her disability makes her unsure of herself. She spent the first 8 months of her life around 50-60 other dogs, so it's not like she wasn't socialized to a variety of sizes and ages and temperaments (though they're inbred, so the variety wasn't huge.) She has scars from at least three bad bites, so maybe ignoring is just her coping mechanism to fly under the radar of other dogs.
