Mercury here. Not sure how they are with claims because I haven't had one. I pay about $70 a month for an '06 Toyota Matrix. I'm seriously considering switching over to AAA even if it does cost a bit more because I like the fact that if you break down or run out of gas somewhere they actually send help. The other companies will reimburse you for towing etc. but you're pretty much on your own for getting whatever help you need. $70 a month may sound like a lot, but everything costs more in CA and car insurance is no exception.

Don't switch insurance companies just to get towing. If you want AAA roadside service you can buy that seperately, for something like 70$ a year.

Geico, they seem reasonable. I've been with them for 8 months. I haven't made a claim, so I don't know what that type of service is like.

It's funny how I ended up with State Farm. I had a really bad accident that left my car totaled (someone t-boned me) in front of a shopping center. The agent for the office can running out and stayed with me through the entire thing. She at the point told me that I would probably get canceled (I was with Allstate at the time) but if I did to give her a call. Allstate was going to more than double my rates (I was young and living tight) so I couldn't afford that. I called her up -- my rates went down and I've been with State Farm every since. I have changed agents since we moved across town, but the service hasn't changed.

We've had several tow bills and I had a check in hand the next day, my husband was a wreck last Thanksgiving and the lady's insurance company wouldn't pay his medical bills (we are still in litigation over this), and State Farm stepped up and paid them in full with NO questions asked and told me when we did get paid back the money was ours -- we didn't have to pay them back because that is what they were there for and why we paid premiums. The only thing I didn't like is when I got my GTO my insurance went up $16/month (but that of course isn't State Farms fault -- it's my fault for having taste for an expensive/fast car!).

I honestly can't rave enough about State Farm. My husband used to be a former body shop estimator and he says without a doubt State Farm is who you would want fixing your car. They use new parts unless your car is over 2-3 years old where as the other companies don't even offer that it ALWAYS comes from the junk yard or a place that makes replacements. This is a big deal to my husband and I because we always have a car that falls in that range.

Ok -- I'll step off my soap box! :p

Last year when I was at the groomer... someone backed right into my PARKED car... HELLO!! are you blind?! sorry tangent...anyway... I had the police come... so I had a report... I tried to get the lady to pay and she wouldnt, she was not returning my calls, giving me different phone numbers, last names, etc... well I called State Farm which was her insurance company... they helped me figure out her real information, they put the claim in for me, all I had to do was bring the car to the shop... they paid them and everything... it was great...so although I dont have State Farm I can vouch for them being very helpful and nice.

right now we use safeauto. When we got our van it had to be insured before leaving the car dealership no exceptions and our insurance agent wasn't open that late to make the change so we used the safeauto that the dealership said they always use for situations like this. They are really cheap (we pay $96/per month for our sentra and our dodge dakota pickup truck). We'll switch someday but right now they are in our price range and we don't like many of the agents in our town so we have to meet someone that we do like.

I have Progressive. I've had a bad stretch of driving. I won't go into that but they've been GREAT when I've had to deal with claims. They are now adding a thing on my policy for my pets. If they get hurt in a car accident they will help with vet bills. Now that's a feature I REALLY do not want to test out.

We had Geico, but switched to AIG. The rate was significantly better. But I don't know how they are servicewise, because we haven't made a claim.

I have the Hartford. They've been very satisfactory, and I've had to make two claims since getting my car. In one case the guy to fix my windsheild was there that weekend, and in the other the other company paid up immediately.

Alright.. after calling around & obtaining quotes from many different companies, I'm happy to report that we decided to stay with AAA. We're now confident that they give us the best rate for the exact same coverage.

Between the two of us, we have 4 vehicles a 1998 Jeep that hubby drives to work, an 06 Sienna that I drive, and two 1989 Dodge Ram Van that we use only during the weekend for the swapmeet). We have full coverage on the Sienna, but liability coverage only (with uninsured motorist) on the other three..

The AAA's rate is $1530/year, Allstate: $1980/year, Geico: $1858.20, and Farmers: $2295/year. The best rate, and the fact that we've been their customer for a while are enough to keep us. :D

I have Allstate right now. I am thinking of switching to geico though. the bf got in two wrecks last week(a whole nother story of its own!) and they were great. I always thought he'd be screwed if he actually needed to make a claim.

I'm just mad at my agent because she was supposed to take the six months out at once through my debit and instead pulled out one month. Not a huge deal but it left me paying a couple extra a month and having to send it in every month.

I've got State Farm because out of all the insurance companies, they gave me the lowest rates for full coverage on a semi-new financed car, under an "inexperienced driver" lmfao...

I can't believe how cheap your insurance is. I pay 150 a month and have no accidents that were my fault. That's pretty average for around here
