I've been looking at this dog a while (can't get him of course, but I really like him). He's so unusual looking. What color would his coat be classified as?
You know what, when I saw that dog I thought his color reminded me of Riot's... except dilute, hence the blue color instead of the black. I have no idea what that's called, though.
I guess there can be a dilute sable but I've never heard a name for it. It's hard on my screen to tell if his nose pigment is black or blue. I've seen in paps where the sable gets diluted to red but I don't think I've ever seen blue like this guy. Some sable merles I've seen kind of get that greyish color on their coat but I've never seen one with that much.
Merle in Aussies doesn't affect white markings like that though...he looks to have the typical Irish spotting/markings but heavily speckeled like an ACD. Actually, I think his head looks more ACD than Aussie anyway, so maybe that would account for it?

I wish! He sounds like such a neat dog. I keep reminding myself that when I get back, I'm sure there will be an awesome mediumish herding breed mix or herding breed dog I can adopt. It's hard though!
