What breeds do you aesthetically prefer "altered"?

I feel this way too. maybe it's because a lot of the cropped breeds are left uncropped so often that I have grown accustom to seeing them with natural ears.

Repeat after me, NBT ES.

I like a lot of breeds with docked tails, dobes, boxers, most terriers, etc. I like Rotties with long tails. Aussies with or without tails, I love them both ways.

Fun fact: Snitch and all but one litter mate are nbt. They were still docked, because they were not a short enough nbt, Snitch's tail was somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 the length of a full tail.

NBT are super awesome dogs. Just ask me, I'll tell you

Hahaha I agree. Snitch would have probably had a Hudson length tail had he not been docked.

While the aussie standard can be vague in some respects (because one persons moderate isn't another's) they are pretty specific about tail length so a large number of nbt Aussies end up docked anyways.

I like most breeds both ways, honestly. I would prefer to see natural dogs if the aesthetic surgery was poorly executed. Can't stand seeing chop jobs on ear crops.

I think Dobermans are my favorite altered breed when the crop is done well. So elegant.

I always prefer pit bull type dogs with their natural ears because the ears are so expressive.

I prefer natural in pretty much all cases. I always tend to like the European versions of dogs better than American, and its purely because they are not cropped/docked.
I'm not really outrageously morally opposed (as long as they are done humanely of course), I just prefer the natural look.

Leo's natural bob has grown on me, but when I first got him that was probably my least favorite feature about him. I don't like the fact that I have a hard time telling when he is tucking his tail and things like that. I do have to say, butt wiggles are super adorable though.
It does make me feel better that his tail is natural though.

None. No matter how well done, all I can see is the artificiality of it anymore.
Same for me. I prefer natural everything, if given the option.

I know a guy with a bloodhound who has a tail docked halfway. The whole litter was done like that, apparently. It looks pretty goofy.

I would have said I prefer dobermans cropped, but we have a few cropped regulars at work that I spend a lot of time with. When I pet them their ears always feel like such sad little scraps, there's hardly anything there at all. I always ask them where their ears are as then lean on me and moan.

I'm down with whatever. I like naturally cropped and docked breeds. I also like natural ears on some dogs.

I love my Amstaff's cropped ears. It's just normal to me. I love the look of a good crop, and I have to disagree with other posts that the ears don't look normal in person. His ears are still very mobile and expressive, and don't seem weird to me at all.

I don't really put much thought into it. If I ever get another Doberman, I'd prefer it be nicely cropped and docked, but I like natural Dobermans as well as long as they have a nice tail and ear set. If I had to choose though, I'd choose cropped and docked. Eventhough I agree, it does look fake. But I think it's prettier regardless as long as it's been done well.

I prefer cropped Great Danes. I prefer a cropped Beauceron. I don't really like any other traditionally cropped breeds enough to have a real preference for others, though.

As for just tails, I like Aussies with or without tails. Part of the reason I was trying not to get one was because I wanted a dog with a tail, but now that I have Journ, I love her little no-tail self. That said, for sport purposes, I think I'd prefer a tail and would like a tailed Aussie at some point. While I don't think Journ is hindered significantly by not having a tail, I just feel like a tail would assist certain movements and activities a little bit better.

I honestly don't care either way. If it's cropped/docked, great. If it's not, awesome. Although I personally would never crop my own dog's ears because it's a lot of upkeep for something I wouldn't mind being left natural. I think breeds that are traditionally cropped and/or docked look great either way.

The only thing I HATE HATE HATE is when people DOCK an ACD's tail. It looks ridiculous and the breed standard actually calls for a FULL tail. I don't understand why people would want to dock that gorgeous bushy tail, and it will bug me forever. I actually think I see more docked ACD's than ones with full tails. And I always get asked why Fable isn't docked.

I did not know ACDs were supposed to have tails for the longest time. I'd say 80% I see are docked. I prefer them with tails (like everything else) but I'm more used to seeing them without.

One issue I have with docked fluffy tails is it seems like all the aussie people here don't keep them trimmed so there's always one little string of hair hanging off them. Drives me NUTS. Even worse than people who let their dogs get grinch feet. :p

I love Gimmicks little Grinch feet. But I do hate that one strip of hair. Every time I see a dog with one at work, I want to snip it off.

All crops look ridiculously fake to me. Some docks look more natural but I can't get over the procedures necessary. I will not buy a cropped or docked dog in the future.

I love tails. I love when I see tails on dogs that are normally docked. I HATE when mixed dogs are docked, because there's no breed standard to comply with. I accept that 95% of the Yorkies I groom will have nubs, but a Yorkie Shih Tzu? That really upsets me. Probably would be a really nice tail, too.

I also love ears, but I do love the look of a nice[/] crop on a Doberman, schnauzer, boxer, Bouvier, or pit bull/AmStaff. I also love those breeds with natural ears. Cropping is something I would never do, but my dirty little secret is that I would love a pit bull with a nice crop. That's ok, because I adopt adult dogs, not puppies, and I'll find one ;) I love love love natural pit bull ears in any form (except when they're long and houndy), but sometimes if one's got a big round head and Lab-ish ears, I think how much nicer they'd look with their ears done.

Honestly, I forget about cropping a lot. I see some older dogs with crops, and I know certain breeds do get cropped, but so many dogs don't get done that - with the exception of Dobermans and pit bulls - I tend to be startled when I see a puppy with their ears wrapped from getting cropped. Most boxers and schnauzers get left natural anymore, from what I see. Great Danes, too, and when I saw a Dane puppy with it's ears wrapped recently, I was like "oh yeah" (even though I see older ones with their ears done).

I prefer cropped dobes but natural danes.

When it comes to JRTs I find I vastly prefer the look of a good dock. Its a long dock when done right and really gives the dog a balanced look (aside from practical reasons)

For those who remember Kat (Dekka's daughter) I loved her crop. The straight line of her tail (which was always up or wagging) matched her so well. JRTs normally have curved whippy tails.
