I don't have a lot of fears. The biggest fear is quite unfounded but quite extreme, that would be fear of snakes...they scare the cr*p out of me...

On a much deeper level, fear of something happening to me and no one being around to take care of my dogs, or something happening to my dogs when I'm not around to protect them, and that if I never woke up my dogs are the only ones that would notice. :(

I used to have lots of fears. Now, not so much. My only remaining solid fear is having to go to the dentist. I have moments where I am afraid, but I can work through those and not stay in a state of fear. The dentist, however... oh boy. I turn into a mess yet I still force myself to go every six months and it is slowly getting better.

open water... even if I can see the beach it doesn't matter. not knowing what is below me scares the ever loving poop out of me.

sharks. Goes with that open water thing. I'd like to try scuba diving but I think if I laid eyes on a shark I would panic.

Balloons is another one I don't like. Hannah loves balloons and I am just tense the whole time she plays with one just WAITING for it to blow up. apparently I had one blow up in my face when I was a year old and never got over it lol.

Flying. this fear did not develop until after Hannah was born. I used to love flying. now I can't handle it at all. I am a wreck for the weeks leading up to the flight and can't really enjoy my vacation because I know that flight home is coming up.

thunderstorms at night. I'm not fond of them during the day either but at night especially scares me. In my mind it's like this... Any storm could potentially lead to a tornado. but it is dark and we can't see it how will I know it's coming. How can I be prepared to save myself and my family if I can't see it coming.

and spiders and house centipedes... shudder

That's exactly what happened to me. I was about two and before that LOVED balloons. I got one at the dentist. One of those that was filled really tightly with helium. It was purple. Anyways, it blew up in my face. I can't stand them still. I'm getting better but we'd have ot play those balloon popping games in school or camp and I'd cry and have to be taken away because it scared me so bad. Nowadays though I am just tense around them. Can't shake it at all. I'll stay in the room with them but I won't relax if there is a balloon in someone's hands.

Sharks. I can't look at a picture or video without getting into panic mood. I also sometimes get scared swimming in lakes, or even pools, knowing sharks live in water, and then the pop into my mind, and I bolt out.

Oh, Laur, yeah I'm scared of balloons too. Not so much of the balloons themselves but of them popping. And this probably sounds weird, but the static electricity they conduct is kind of unnerving to me.

I am afraid of clowns. I don't know why. As a kid I really didnt mind them... but now they just creep my out.
I am also afraid of not being able of having children - or dying alone. I KNOW that adoption is always a way, but siriously, Im afraid of not being able to have my own children.
Driving. Well being hit by another car scares me to death. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver on the night of his 19th birthday - and I always have to think of that when I drive home late at night.

Birds. All birds really, but parrots and chickens more than any other. I've turned down house-sitting jobs because they had chickens I would have to feed. And I sometimes have a tough time walking on city streets because of the pigeons.

Dentists. I had a terribly unkind dentist as a child, and I've never really gotten over it.

Having my arms restrained. I'm okay in small spaces, as long as I can move my arms freely.

I'm a little bit afraid of geese.

Toe socks make me feel uneasy.

I am getting better at heights (like ladders) and I am fine with heights from a secure spot. I do, however, feel physically ill when I am watching something on TV that has people on top of buildings, either too close to the edge for my comfort or if they are about to fall.

I think I was watching an episode of Law and Order (not sure which series) where a women crash tackled a man off the building and they both fell to their deaths onto a car below. I cried because it was just so terrifying.

I don't like looking up at building either, I don't like looking up at great heights.

I think that's it really.

Anything medical.
Being touched by anyone without my express permission.
Doctors, nurses, needles, IVs, being put under- never had any of that and never would allow it.
People being angry at me.
Wasps and bees and spiders.

Everything really, except dogs.

Snakes. Saw a 6" garden snake the other day and almost had a panic attack.

Heights. I don't do roller coasters, hate flying, and especially hate driving on really high/narrow bridges and overpasses.

I'm scared of being trapped... in a room, in a crowd, in the middle of nowhere... not having an exit strategy, I guess. For the same reasons I'm scared of the dark.

Water. I can't swim, but the mere thought of being in an ocean or lake or something where you can't see the bottom, is terrifying. My friends are dragging me along on a cruise this summer, can't wait.

I'm terrified of having a freak accident and being permanently disabled. Comes from working with a lot of quadrapalegics. But I'm even just scared of getting hurt to the point where I can't do my job... which is very physical.

I'm scared of my pets getting run over by cars. I'm paranoid about having them outside in case someone drives up the driveway and doesn't see them.

I think those are the main ones. I decided a few months ago that I have way too many fears, and I need to just get over myself. So I've been working on it. :)
