I thought it was pretty cool when I realized this is my 300th post.

WELCOME HOME, MCGEE!

I picked up McGee Thursday night after work. By the time I got to her, made chit chat with the family, and ate dinner, it was late. She had been woken up to come and greet us, so by the time we got home at around 10:00p, she was pretty tired. Pretty much we got her set up with her crate, got her pottied, and went to bed.

She didn't cry in her crate all night! In fact, I woke her up around 3:30 because I couldn't sleep, waiting for her to whine. She woke up, pottied, and back in the crate without a peep. After all my struggles with Milo, this seems a bit too good to be true! (Maybe it is. Only time will tell!)

The next morning, we woke up and played and played. I realized I didn't have any batteries in my camera! Oops. So, it was later in the day before we could fix that and I apologize for slacking in the picture department. Don't worry! We are making up for it today!

Exploring the backyard.

Who knows if these ears will ever stand up.

McGee all set up and cozy in her "new and improved box."

The red toy she's cuddled up with is a Petstages Puppy Cuddle Pal which I highly recommend. It has a little sack of buckwheat in a velcro pouch and can be microwaved for 30 seconds. I think it simulates a littermate because she loves it.

Playing with a toy that always makes me chuckle -- a dead, gutted fish. To give you reference, the toy is about 4" long. McGee sat and chewed on it for quite a while and entertained herself. What will I do with such normal puppy behavior? (Milo never plays with toys.)

OMG! Mal, she is just precious! How can you keep your hands off her? And OMG! The puppy breath?? To DIE for.

A few more...

We did take McGee on an outing yesterday. I had already called and scheduled a vet check-up and I'm glad I did. McGee had developed a little bald spot on her back since the last time we saw her. The rescuer thought it was just from momma and littermates playing too hard and maybe chewing her hair off. I thought this was a bit suspicious so I asked the vet to do a skin scraping. Came back negative for mange/mites and he said probably just the littermates played too hard. Oh well!

McGee now weighs a whopping 2 lbs 5 oz at 10 weeks old. She's now on track to be 6 pounds full grown, not 5 as we had thought (and maybe even feared, a little).

After the vet, we stopped by the pet store for treats and meeting new people. There were really ugly cat collars on sale so of course we couldn't resist trying one on!

I laugh at her shame.

She tried so hard to stay awake on the car ride home.

Buuuuut, it wasn't really working. Night night, Miss McGee, and welcome to your new home!

She's truly adorable. She loves to be in her crate and I'm happy to have her hang out there as much as possible. Milo was sooooo hyper all the time (and even still has a hard time sitting still and relaxing) so it is a very welcome change. At first the vet was nervous about her being so calm, but after a totally thorough check-up, he said, "Guess she's just mellow!"

Well, that's what we hope!

Of course we are getting in lots of play-and-play-and-play between naps. What a great way to spend a 2.5-week vacation!

Thanks for letting me gush and getting excited with me, Grady. :) We'll fully convert you into a small-dog person yet!

Oh yes. We have been preparing for weeks. I have been involved with these rescue pups since before they were born -- and I try to do all my homework. Plus, I made all my mistakes with Milo. I'm hoping to at least avoid those same ones this time around!

She is such a different puppy than Milo was. It's a bit alarming.

If I can't get a puppy, I can at least live vicariously through you & Miss McGee. :) I'm afraid I'm already becoming a small dog person. I NEVER thought I'd be saying that. ~L~

Give McGee some kisses from me.
