Some of you might remember about a week ago I made a post about Zero having what I thought might be heat stroke. I want to thank all who responded again, but as it turns out, the problem was not heat related.

Zero was having episodes of vomiting at night time; I figured it was from the heat, seeing as he has a really thick coat. The days following that post, the vomiting continued but the heat did not. It got to the point where he could not keep a meal down. He was vomiting up everything undigested about 4 hours after he had eaten it, suggesting that the digestion process wasn't even beginning.

We went to the vet the following morning and tried to describe what had happened the night before, but Zero looked 100% fine to the vet. No sore abdomen, happy wagging tail.. no signs of anything being remotely wrong at all. He sent us home with some gastro food and said to "see how it goes".

I gave him some gastro, and sure enough about 4 hours later at night, he was having another violent episode of vomiting. Screaming, writhing around, twisting and bowing all over the place. I decided to take this video to show the vet the following morning.
WARNING: May be upsetting to some..

The vet was concerned so all day today, Zero has been at the vet on IV fluids and had X-rays done which showed nothing abnormal. They then decided to do some bloodwork and I will know the results in the morning. He is now home for the night but will be back to the vets in the morning for more IV fluids, therefore he has a catheter in his arm.

Hopefully the blood tests will show what's wrong. Until then, it's still a mystery. I will let you all know tomorrow what the results say.

I'm so sorry he's not feeling well! That video was hard to watch. His crying upset my dogs.
It must be hard for you, not knowing what the problem is and watching him suffer. I hope you can find out what is wrong, and fix it soon. I'm so upset. Zero is my favourite Chaz dog. I love seeing photos of him, but not like that. :(

We're thinking of you guys over here. Give Zero a hug from me.

Oh, poor guy! That really has me concerned... :(

I hope he feels better, and I hope his 'mystery ailment' is discovered before he has to go through that again! :(:(:(

I'm sorry the video upset your dogs and it is extremely hard to watch. I can't even watch it.

It's so sweet that Zero's your favorite chaz dog!

I will definitely keep you all updated with any news regarding his illness. Lord knows I won't be sleeping tonight!

I didn't watch . . . I knew better, thanks to your warning - it's hard enough knowing the two of you are going through this - and Pit, too, since I know he and Zero are best buds.

Thank you for keeping us posted. I hope it's something simple that can be taken care of easily and goes away!

Oh, and by the way, making a video of the episode to show the vet was a brilliant idea.

Make sure they watch the liver and kidney levels. It sounds like my poor Hero and I really hope it's not some sort of toxin or mushroom or something like he had. All my best that this is nothing and will go away SOON.

Thank you. Recording the video gave me mixed feelings. I felt good to have evidence but a part of me felt sick to just stand there and watch. I'm glad it helped the vet understand the urgency because my words weren't getting through to him.

Thank you all for your warm wishes and Zero and I will be sure to inform you on the latest news.

He's currently snoozing on the porch (it's cooler outside than inside, which is more comfortable for him). I blended some gastro with water to make it a liquid in hopes that he won't vomit it up tonight. So far so good!

Good thinking making that video, though it's extremely hard to watch I'm sure it made a world of difference for your vet and finding some help for Zero!!!

I hate to see him in so much pain!! :( That video almost made me cry, poor guy! Hopefully you find out what's wrong with him really soon!! Good luck!!!!! Sending all my best vibes and wishes for you guys!!!

OK, well I spoke too soon. Like clockwork, about 4 hours after giving him some food, he has vomited it up again.

I predicted it would happen around this time because he was up and seemed antsy so I went for a stroll around the block with him. He then proceeded to vomit and stretch every other step (in a bowing position). The walking seems to calm him, therefore he only whines mildly instead of screaming.

Either way, something is amiss.

I am wondering if he has a soft obstruction. Meaning like a sock or something like that. Without being able to keep anything down, it would not be showing bowel gasses on a ultrasound. When was the last time the vet did a ultrasound? It sounds like to me its getting close to exploratory surgery but if something like that is in there, it would solve the problem. As your vet about it. A soft item ( like a sock) would not show up on a x ray- but would show up in the gasses around it. hmm...

That is exactly what I was thinking.
