I went out to let them inside, and they were just... gone.

I went out front to find them, and PupChup, my fox terrier, was running around across the street. I caught her and got her inside.

I couldn't find Brix. my shepherd (who has a few problems with strangers) for a minute. Then he ran around the corner into my sight, and I got him in the house.

I checked my yard to see how they got out, and it seems as if they probably crawled under the fence, which has come loose from the ground, and ran through my neighbor's yard, which had its front gate open.

Now I'll just have to watch them when they go outside until I fix the problem.

It was scary. :(

I'm so sorry that happened, it sure is scary when your pets are missing.

My cat escaped my apartment once (we had just moved, the power went out, blah blah blah...), she was gone for a whole day and a whole night, I just knew she'd never come back. But when she DID.... OMG, I was so happy I just hugged her for the longest time. Makes me wonder how some people think they're supposed to punish their pet when it escapes, I was just so happy to have her back I couldn't've punished her even if I was supposed to.

Musha ran away a couple of months back. I usually take her down to the park and let her off the leash and she stays in view the whole time, but this morning she decided to run ahead of me and up a hill and I was scared out of my mind. I didn't have my phone with me and I was in my PJ's. After searching for her for an hour, I ran home to get my phone and rally up my troops. When I went outside, she was staning in front of my apartment building looking at me like i was the one who ran off.

Mind you, we were 1/4 miile from my apartment and across the a busy intersection. But thankfuly she was ok.

I know what that feels like. I was out of my mind with worry. I'm glad it turned out ok for you too.

Thanks for the concern. :)

I put some large rocks I found nearby and put them on the other side of the fence to hold it down. Nobody has lived there for quite a while, so they don't mind.

I agree with the escape holes, I just saw a few of them under our wooden fence that was apparently made by skunks...so our neighbor says (they saw them go in and out)

Glad you got them back, I bet it must have been terrifying for you until you did.

Also, I have a little escape artist that would try to find ways to get out when he was a pup. One section of fencing is chain link and he could squeeze his way under very easily. So I had to attach chicken wire underneath it. You may even have to dig it under the grown a bit.
