Has anyone taken multiple classes with their dogs on the same night? I have an opportunity to take an Intro to Nosework class with Walter, but the class falls on the same night as our agility class. The Nosework class would start at 5:30 and the agility class starts at 8:15 so there would be a good gap between the two classes.

I've done multiple classes with Walter, but never on the same night. I'm wondering if anyone has done it before and if it worked out well for them.

I've done it a few times with nosework and agility and it works ok though ours were back to back.

Your dog may be able to do it, but I don't think you'll be getting as much out of it than if you took them on separate nights.

Would you go home in between? If you can go home, get something to eat, and relax for a bit, I think it would be fine. IME with nosework classes, there can be a lot of waiting for the dog and if your dog waits calmly, it might not be that tiring.

If you can't go home and rest in between, it might be too much for both of you. That's a really long night.

I've totally done it with Maddie :D (When she was younger) As long as the dog's up for it I say go for it! :) she had a break between classes while I was working with Bailey for a class  but she didn't really need the rest I think.

..lol and I wonder why I'm poor :rofl1:

I've done it before, and I've had a few students do it.

dogs that are used to coming and going and doing seem to handle it just fine- mine certainly did.

Those not used to getting out much or being exposed to so many dogs that often tend to burn out 3/4 of the way through the second class.

I was going to say no, that would not be something I'd try...and then...

I train Schutzhund. So my dogs get up bright and early, go tracking. Short break, do obedience, short break, do protection. I'm essentially doing THREE classes in one day LOL

I've done three classes a day before. Used to be my Saturdays. Though each dog was only in 2 classes. 2 hours agility and one hour nosework.

I loved it.

I haven't done it before because the situation has never come up. But I think it totally depends on the dog. I think Cajun could do 100 classes a day lol and not burn out. She loves DOING and I've never seen her get bored/tired of that stuff. Same with Juno when she was younger - much less so these days.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I honestly don't think Walter would have a problem with it. He's young and is always happy to be doing something.

I think the big question is whether or not I can do it. I do think the gap is helpful because it would allow me some time to process what happened in the first class before jumping into the second. It's enough of a gap where we could probably go home for an hour to eat and relax for a bit.

I'm leaning toward just giving it a try. I really like the trainer for the Nosework class and it's always fun to try something new with Walter.
