That's exactly what I'm TRYING to do, but the K9 Nose work trainers haven't replied to my email about starting NW with my dogs. But it's only been 2 days, so no biggie... I'll give them another 3 days. It's just a reminder about all the other times I've been blown off.

I thought I could go to flyball practice and trials with a team at one point, and the flyball trainer seemed very enthusiastic to at least have me start learning handling techniques and watching the other dogs and their handlers train. So I replied and was excited to start. Out of the blue, she stopped replying to my emails as well.

The chances of getting a reply from anywhere are about 1/6 for me, I realized. For every 6 emails I send, I get 1 reply. Maybe I actually sound too INTO IT and they're put off. I'm now deciding between being pushy at events or acting chill and apathetic. Maybe I'll have a higher chance of replies if I look like I don't give a crap LOL.
 
The medication I was given works, I am not manic in the slightest because I am too exhausted to leave my bed. I am not even at the full dose and AFTER sleeping for 14 hours, I had to sit down in the shower today because I nearly lost consciousness. Every time I stand up and walk, I get a cold sweat, my ears start ringing and if I don't sit my ass back down I'll faint. The extreme tiredness keeps me from being a bounce-off-the-walls nutcase, but it's also keeping me from being a person.

What the ****, dude. I'm so disappointed, I'd feel like crying if I had the energy. I don't know why I thought medicine would actually help me. They just gave me this to shut me up, not to fix me.

Take a Fenzi course on Scent Detection and train it yourself. There's no need to go to classes. It's beneficial for proofing and distraction work before trailing, but I trained on my own and got a Started title in one day of trialing.

There are a lot of sports that you can train mainly on your own.

It takes a while for your body to adjust to the meds. Guessing mood stabilizer?

I am on one they use occasionally for my migraines fairly high dose and it really affects me the first month I am on it. I work twelves to so it is rough. When I restarted this last time I had to very slowly up the dose but I am telling you the first month is hard but after that your body adjusts and the sleepiness goes away and the mood crap will go away(I work inpt psych and do deal with this all the time. Most dosing we tell people give it a couple weeks but sometimes it's longer).

Some meds are not the right fit though so if after a month you don't feel like you tell them and have an adjustment. That's why you see them. It's tough.

And are you doing counseling to? Talk to them.
 
RD - I've been on probably every psychiatric med you can name, and I've had a bad reaction (ranging from mild stomach issues/headaches to loss of consciousness and heart problems) to most of them.

I did, eventually find ones that work. I sleep more on them, but it's only 8-9 hours, so whatever. But whenever I go off and restart them, it does take like a week for me not to sleep 14 hours and feel dizzy a lot and stuff.

If you're actually fainting or unable to really function at all, I'd either cut the dose or stop them to try something new (under a doctor's supervision).

Pm me if you'd like....I'm assuming from you're post you're talking about bipolar...I was diagnosed 4 years ago and have some helpful resources.

I've heard of Fenzi a couple times but didn't look into their website until today. Fortunately, the trainer did end up replying to me the night before her next class, and so I went on a whim the next day! It was a good experience, so we will be going again. Thank god all my worst fears don't keep coming true.

Agility in particular can very much be trained at home, though the dog might need to attend a couple classes for training distraction purposes. :P So it's the same for nose work, though probably depending on the dog. After we move into odors and I get a good gist of the handling, maybe take a few more classes and then consider going just once a month or even less.
 
*grumblegrumblegrumble* The past two nights my back has been horrendous. It's feeling so much better during the day and during my adjustments, but there is just this one spot (I'm assuming a disc) that HATES the position of laying down on my back. I have gotten such shitty sleep. I'm up at least twice to pee in the middle of the night (thank you, pregnancy) and then it takes me a billion years to get comfortable again. The past two nights have been impossible and I'm essentially lying in pain from 3a until my alarm goes off at 6a. Shifting positions doesn't help. Sleeping on my side doesn't help. This morning I finally said **** it and went to sleep on the couch, to which the cats kept me up (but at least my back was bearable).

This has got to change. I cannot keep getting no sleep. Ugh.

How old is your mattress? Might be worth considering a new one or a topper of some sort that would be more supportive.

Some women can't sleep on their backs while pregnant (the uterus can press on the aorta, making blood flow difficult), so now's the time to start working on solutions! I looooove my Snoogle pillow for side sleeping (I was a stomach sleeper before) - it helps me keep my knees and hips aligned comfortably.

I actually discovered if I sleep with two pillows vs one (so I'm at more of an incline) that it takes pressure off that disc in my back and I'm able to sleep. I've also been able to comfortably sleep on my right side (but not my left, for whatever reason). My mattress topper just got here today (YEY!!) and it feels heavenly. For the past week I've been sleeping on a sleeping bag and that helped, but this topper is great (so far - I actually haven't slept on it yet haha). We'll see how tonight goes!

Yup! Slept about as good as I can. DH woke me up when he came to bed late, then Cynder regurged and when I tried to wake DH up he failed, so I had to get up and deal with her...then I had to pee, of course. So, a "normal" nights sleep of waking up three times throughout the night, but it wasn't because of my back! Haha Didn't take Tylenol before bed or anything and I slept comfortably.
 
That is good. I remember lying in bed crying cause I couldn't sleep and I was just so tired.

People told me to enjoy it while he was still 'in there' and that it would be worse once he was born. Nope, I got some actual sleep after he was out. Someone else could take the odd night shift and no one was lying on my organs or kicking my kidneys. :)
 
Why am I even so interested in dogs? I wish I could just 100% cut off my brain's interest in them completely for the next 1~2 years until I'm at least available to even bring in a dog/puppy. And then I turn the interest back on again then.

I need to get off dog forums and groups and all dog interest whatsoever so I can focus on my career. Because feeling obsessive and frustrated right now has no end, when I can't do anything about it anyway. And I'm distracted from my career and currently have no motivation in it. My motivation is entirely on dogs, and I can't do anything about it. I don't even live at home with Lancer and Rara to see them/trick train every day.

My daughter texted me from the bus stop that a cat was hit by a car by the stop. I got there and it was too late. No tags or collar.

I took her and went out and burried her. Not a great start to my day.
 
Yay Texas has joined a few other states in saying NO to more refugees! FINALLY our governor does something right! Now, if we can kick out the ones already here, that would be great.

Also, WTF, Mr. "president", not going to help France (one of our oldest allies) out or what? Coward, sorry excuse for a human being, I didnt think it was possible for me to hate that man anymore than I already do but ... OH imagine that, now I do. :wall:
