The Good News thread

They're beautiful. I've always been kind of interested in having snakes one day.

Ball pythons (and some colubrids like kingsnakes and corn snakes, I'm sure) are actually THE MOST low-maintenance, easiest, no-trouble-at-all pet I've ever had. They eat once a week, poop and pee once a month, change their water dish every couple days, and don't require being handled- just whenever you feel like it. So if you ever really wanted to go for it...

I would SO do it except knowing my dad he'd freak about the frozen/thawed rodents. Unless I bought myself my own mini freezer or fridge for my room (which isn't a bad idea now that I consider it). For a while I considered geckos instead but snakes (balls and corns) are just so gorgeous and have my heart, in my research on herps I just keep coming back to them.

Ahaaaaa the frozen rodents, true that. I actually really DID get my own mini fridge just for this reason, because my roommates definitely would not be okay sharing the freezer with dead rats LOL.

Yessss come back to themmmm. :D I will be your calling.

I got a job at a doggie daycare and I start next week and I'm pretty excited because not only will I be able to have Sam and/or Wilson at work with me but my schedule also will allow me to keep taking agility classes :D

As soon as I finish adopting out the remaining baby rats from an oops litter I took in, I definitely will be looking into it :D I really could use a mini fridge/freezer since it's annoying to take my cat food up and down from my attic room.

In other news I'm super excited. Tomorrow through Friday my mom sister and I are going camping at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, and I'm pumped becsuse it's practically the halfway point of the Appalachian Trail. The book A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (which I adore and will be coming with of course) has really gotten me interested in hiking it and lately I've been fantasizing about just dropping my summer job and all obligations and just marching off into the 2,000 mile wilderness. I'm actually really tempted to. If only I had more hiking appropriate outerwear and cookware I would...

When I get off of work this evening and head home, my husband will be there.

That seems so weird. But so nice.

Welp... lookie who else came home with me a couple days ago from the Reptile Super show in LA.

A Dumeril's Boa! I named her Vigil. She is much more brave/less spooked than my ball pythons, and they average 5~6 feet like ball pythons. Very relaxed, slow, and very sweet little snake.

Snakes are literally so... low-maintenance and no hassle at all and easy to care for (which is basically almost no care at all, relative to all the other animals I've cared for before), it's just so easy to add another. And another. And another.

I CANT BELIEVE I HAVE 3 SNAKES NOW LOL

After revamping my resume (to be all adult and such) and reopening my "professional" Facebook account that can be searched, I've got 2 interviews coming up!

It would have been 3 if I kept the commission only, door-to-door sales lined up, but they failed to inform me in the original job posting that even though it was full-time, it was 100% commission based.

First is a phone interview this Thursday for a full-time position as a Water Quality Analyst - company car, company tablet, company phone and portable lab. Could be fun! Although I'm not entirely confident that I meet the requirements of the job just yet.

Second is a skills assessment and mechanical comprehension interview next Tuesday for a major pharmaceutical company. It's only a 1 year contract, but it'd also be full time with massive opportunities to grow within the company.

The thing is.... the pharmaceutical job is close to where I currently live and the original plan was to move closer to, or in with, Josh after graduation. It's making me fear that if I do end up with this position that he and I might not work out because we're both sick of this distance and he already voiced that he wouldn't do another year of me being in school out here... bah I dunno.

Two things! First, I got REALLY good news this morning!!! :D so relieved for that. It's a long story, but basically my friend isn't moving to FL right now. She left Friday but she'll actually be back Thursday. *cries*

Second...... When thing start to finally fall into place after being so rough for so long.... It's scary but exciting!!!

I've been at my new job for 10mos and I'm interviewing for the administration position THURSDAY AT 8:30 :yikes: huge difference from my last place where I was for 9 years and only one raise worth mentioning :o
Things have been so rocky for the past 10mos, I've been struggling here because of my own personal things, but still doing good work and of course grateful to have a job. They want me for this position, but I have to follow policy (bid on and interview for the position to move up) so I'm not really nervous, actually! Just nervous to start with a new job title and responsibilities. I will miss working in the classroom..... But, honestly, not that much :p I'm ready for this! I have so many goals and plans for the center as a whole if/when I get this position. It looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better, with changes and restructuring of the organization but for the first time in a Long time, I can see light at the end of the tunnel! :D

Yay!!!!!!
And yay again!!! Lol!!

Things are looking up :D Got a couple probable clients for the business. Have a phone interview in a couple weeks for a position as a sub-contractor, which works perfectly with current business. I had started questioning if I'd have to give in and start looking for a normal job, but it may work out after all!

It's official!

This Thursday I'll be receiving my 2015 hatchling blizzard corn snake male from the breeder! :D

Now little snoot is gonna need a name. His viv is looking good, complete with hides and heat and all he could want.

And my freezer will be all set just before the time frame of his first feeding.

He's here! After a bit of a harrowing journey involving getting stuck in the Memphis Fedex hub for longer than I expected, my little blizzard male has arrived! I decided to name him Ziti because I've been feeling the whole pasta vibe. I already want more little snoots. Here's some pics from his unboxing.

Old coworkers son got life flighted back to Pittsburgh for his heart transplant last night. It's been so up and down. Such a hard surgery. This kid needs good thoughts!!

Aww, he's cute! If you find yourself with a surplus of pictures of him and his set up, he definitely deserves his own thread

I DO, I can't lie. I have literally been staring at BP's ever since I got home today. I haven't even started seriously handling Ziti since he's settling in but I just KNOW I need more snek! There's something so captivating and easy about them (well, these species at least). And they're angels in neatness compared even to my rats.
