I don't have any insight regarding how neutering would impact the anxiety, but I will say that it fixed Gusto's chattering 99%. He now only does it if he really gets a chance to get up in a female's business. He had been throwing himself to the training center's floor chattering over girls that had been there the day before.

Roxie has evolved to licking me where I pet her (face/head/neck only lol). She cracks me up. It's like she's saying, "oh, thank you for scratching my neck, I will lick yours".

Brisbane was neutered at four months and despite lotsmof time spent with intact and in heat bitches I had never seen him chatter in ten years...until last week. At daycare there was a female fluffy ACD mix that had been altered a decade ago and also had a dramatic and terrible shavedown. Briz was smitten. So much chattering. So, so weird.

Gimmick is a nasty chatterer. I can get past the licking and the chattering, but the look on his face while he's doing it grosses me out. It's practically orgasmic.

I just figured the chattering would stop because I've never really seen an altered dog doing it. But I'm seriously thinking I might hold off for another year or two then if there's a big chance of it messing with his temperament. It would really be sad to see all the progress he's made go down the drain just because I'm bothered by his teeth chattering.

Noooo! What a bummer. =<
I'm pretty peeved about it! Like good gravy, the number of extractions we do and I have never seen one do this, so of course it'd happen to me. Granted maybe a lot of people also aren't paying enough attention to notice if their dog does get an infection. The sutures also came undone because of the infection so she's just got this fantastic gaping hole now. Which may or may not need to be restitched. siiiiiiiigh.

It sounds horrible but I really should have just left the tooth till after the competition! I need to stop being on top of things and noticing when my dogs have issues lol once again, most people never realize when their dogs break teeth and they sit with them in their mouth for who knows how long.

Leo is neutered and definitely still sniffs pee and teeth chatters, though not so much anymore, mostly because I treat it as a behavior issue and actively discourage him.
It does depend on the dog though.

Last week, there was a standing in heat german shepherd roaming off-leash at the park. Owner nowhere in site. I was pissed. So irresponsible.

We had four dogs with us, including Leo. Since you don't exactly expect to encounter an off-leash un-supervised dog in heat, it took us a bit to figure it out, and we got a good idea on everyone's reactions. The intact male had to be restrained, because he was trying his darndest to get with her. Leo did not try to hump her but wanted to sniff and lick and was definitely chattering up a storm. Another neutered dog wanted to sniff a bit but was otherwise fairly uninterested.

One of my favourite spots to walk is legally closed to the public because of a land dispute - so while I'm taking a risk, I love it for hiking because we never encounter anybody else there.

And today we get charged by an off-leash great dane with a jackass for an owner.

I am running out of places to walk Venice without being harassed. :(

Brought home my two favorite dogs for the better part of a week while their humans are out of town. Intros went super smooth since they're old friends of Briz, Xena is a squishy-temperamented puppy, and Ru is of no consequence. Not sure why we're having a pooping contest though. Seriously guys, there's really no reason you should all be producing 2-3 full bowel movements in the space of ten minutes while straining to eject even more. Just act like normal dogs.

Gambit loves to show off his pooping skills whenever a new dog is around. It makes him feel manly.

Did Xena's home not work out? I fostered a little pup with vision issues, so I've had a soft spot reading about her.

And, it starts. Abrams is once again deeply offended that fireworks are disrupting his typical weekend evening.

Dumb dog. You'd think he'd remember from the past holidays that fireworks are not crazed men with guns shooting us up from outside the house and they do not need to be barked and grumbled at.

If you're gonna adopt an elderly dog with issues, freaking ask your family if it's okay first.

That is so not fair to the poor dog. Especially when you would have been a good home for her.

Gods.

No, they returned her in a hurry two days later and just said "it isn't working out". They didn't even give her long enough to start settling in and getting comfortable. We're meeting an interested couple this morning though, wish her luck!
