Next door neighbor came over this morning to tell us to be careful. His 8 month old puppy got bit by a rattlesnake this weekend. It was out in the open, and not in brush or leaves, which is odd. Thankfully, he will be OK. He and Addie play every night along with neighbors older dog and he would be missed :( as it is he will have to take it easy. Poor thing.

Just last week there was a coyote in our yard so now we have to worry about coyote and rattlesnakes. Joy.

Dogsitting this week for my first foster dog and his little sister. We pulled him from the shelter 9 years ago and ended up placing him shortly after with friends who had seen him there and nearly adopted him before we pulled him. He's still so perfect. I really love being able to bring them home with me and have them just...fit.

12 weave poles. Nailed multiple times. Both hands. Nailed them with me moving and also with me stationary and running the opposite direction even. First time seeing more than 8.

Full size teeter. Nailed multiple times. No fear and figuring out his tipping point.

My trainer said today that Hank is 'an absolute dynamite dog'. :D

God he is so GOOD. Like in every way. I mean he just listens. He held his stay the whole time me and the trainer were talking. Didn't ever lose focus. Did his wraps tightly. Chilled in his crate. Was friendly and cuddly and is so good around the other dogs. Ramps up right when I need him to. Is calm the rest of the time. I love it. Love it love it.

I feel like Hank is a weird prodigy of some sort.

Juno is so not sure what to think of her new house. If I'm just sitting on the couch she's fine and will lay on her bed that's next to it, but otherwise she's super clingy and following my every move which is sooo not like her.

She also broke my blinds a little bit today (which I just bought and hung up 2 days ago!), it ended up being not as terrible as it first looked when I came home and saw the damage through the window as I was walking up. So it's fine but now I feel like I need to have them pulled up when I leave her alone, but... I kind of want the blinds shut when I'm gone.

She at least caught on very quickly with asking to go outside. And she's faring better than my cat, who's been under the couch for the past 12 hours.

Glitch has Kennel Cough. He's my only dog actually vaccinated for it, and he's the on who came down with it. Poor little hacking thing.
Brisbane has had it 6+ times in ten years, and was up to date in his vaccination every time. I stopped vaccinating him for several years because it seemed pointless, but had to start again for daycare. He has had it three times since then...

Last night I had had enough, and took Elsie for a long walk. When we were leaving the house, two young women were walking three dogs down the street. The German shepherd with them went bananas at Elsie, who started barking back. She didn't lunge, or pull, or leave heel position or anything, so I just... kept dicking around with my phone in my driveway (I just got Zombies, Run! and was trying to set up the music) and ignored her meltdown.

The other people made a big deal about telling their dogs that barking is bad!! and then pointedly looked at me.

She didn't start it, guys.

I'm kind of enjoying this 'I really don't care what you think' persona I've got going on lately.

Good for you. I'm a big fan of not caring what other people think.

Also, I just got Zombies, Run! last night and I'm excited to try it.

Yay! A fear period! Joy! A ridiculously awful, long and drawn out thunderstorm. This is going to take a while to fix now *grumble*

Once the lightening hit the next driveway over in a brilliant flash with thunder so spectacularly loud it made my ears ring she was done. She practically climbed up my body like a cat. Shaking so hard her teeth were chattering.

I no longer think the 4th of July will be easy. Thundershirt, and desensitizing here we come!

Fireworks have started already and every year, Eve stresses more about noises. This summer has been nothing but thunderstorms and now with Murica Day coming up I am at the end of my rope. I wish I didn't have throw money I don't have at vets to get xanax for her, because at this point the only thing I can do is toss her in a crate so she doesn't tear up my apartment.

I'm even considering ace at this point. She has ripped up the inside of my car and pulled up all of the carpet upstairs. I don't know why digging is her go-to behavior when she is terrified. She can't be left uncrated anymore, and it makes me sad. She's too old for this ****.

Every time we have any sort of dog-related conflict in the house, all three cats poof up to maximum size and crabwalk onto the scene. They then slowly and dramatically start **** with any dog that doesn't immediately mind its own business. One of my houseguest dogs arrived with the idea that cats were for chasing, and three days later has decided that cats are for politely ignoring.

They do it for dogs chasing cats, they do it for dogs fighting with each other. It's weird. Convenient, but weird.
