I got Brisbane an Alpine Outfitter urban mushing harness years ago, but completely failed to teach him to pull. Briz hates pulling. I spend weeks tossing treats and toys out ahead of him, marking and rewarding and pressure on the harness, having someone else hold the leash while I walked out in front and cheerleaded. Brisbane declined to participate.

Ulysses got the hang of it the first time I praised him for pulling. No other reward necessary. I think I might finally understand why people find mushing to be fun.

Under a month til puppy's arrival and I am starting to FREAK OUT!!! In my mind I know I can do this and I know I am ready, but I don't handle change well and stress out at any disruption in my routine, even if it's my own doing :/.

Still so many feelings!!!

Lucy had a grooming appointment today and I decided to take Juno & Cajun with for the ride while I dropped her off.

As I was getting Lucy out of the car, I shut my door and hesitated for a moment as I saw that my windows were rolled all the way down. I had this feeling that I perhaps should roll them up more... but naaawww I'll just be inside for 10 seconds.

I walk up to the front door with Lucy, hear a noise and look behind me, and sure enough there's Cajun leaping out the car window and running toward me. Thankfully it's a quiet parking lot and I was parked like right at the front door, but seriously dog! Stop it with your velcro-ness.

This has never happened before, there has never been an attempt at something like this before, but apparently somewhere inside me I knew this was likely to happen when I hesitated about walking away from my car with the windows down. Groomer thought it was funny though.

Today I was asked:

-If Hank was a miniature pinscher

- If Hank was a whippet

- If Hank was a jack russell

- If Hank was a 'mini'

And

- If Hank was a rat terrier or a fox terrier

All seemed disappointed when I answered with 'I don't know. He's a shelter dog'

I wanted a Vizsla actively for 6yrs before I got a dog. I knew everything about them... then I could finally get a dog. And I got Vizsla. And some days I wonder why I ever did that to myself ahahah totally kidding. Never hurts to do some casual research& have an idea of what you want before you get it :)

Guys.

ClickerExpo is amazing. The town is amazing. I may never leave.

Also, I said I wouldn't spend any money and today I bought half a dozen doggy things. Books and DVDs and an awesome fleece tug toy. I will probably pick up more books and a multi-purpose lead tomorrow, and maybe another fleece tug because Astro loves his tug and I'm feeling so inspired. It's exactly what I needed post-Tulip-heartbreak.

I was researching what kind of dog I wanted all through adolescence, despite having two dogs at home the whole time. Haha. I think I seriously researched for a dog that would fit my husband and I about 3 years before we brought Watson home. Even after we decided on a Welsh it took a year to find one.

Don't know if all Target stores are having this but our Target had buy 2 bags of Buddy biscuits and get one free. And they were only like $3.60 or something a bag.

The Labrador want. TIS STRONG.

Good thing there seems to be a serious lack of purebred Labradors being rehomed around here. I'd be in trouble.

ETA: Just left a message with the shelter working with the ACD situation in Picayune about fostering when I'm back from my trip the very end of next week. So maybe that will make me realize that no, I do not want a third dog permanently. Hopefully.

Hank full out swam a bunch today!!! Mostly chasing other dogs to the ball but he was launching off the beach full speed and swimming halfway out to the middle of the pond

This dog is so awesome.

I'm pretty proud of myself. I just typed up caresheets for Abrams, Cynder, Histamine, and The Potato for the petsitter for when I'm out of town, and I didn't exceed three pages! :rofl1: And that included a page purely devoted to Cynder's megaesophagus care.

Oh, jeez. I'm that crazy person. LOL

I hate that woman who had that kennel so so very much, and that's saying it politely.

I also decided on a border collie when I was 16 after tons of research. I ended up getting him when I was 23...so I researched 7 years ahead (though at the time I really thought I would get a dog when I got to college).

I am already researching 2nd dog, which will likely only happen in a few years when I have a secure home (possibly my own) that I can definitely have two dogs.

Speaking of which, YOU are to blame for making me start considering a Welsh Springer! I definitely want to go puppy/purebred/breeder route the next time, but always thought I would just a purebred border collie. But lately, a female Welsh Springer is starting to look pretty nice! I have always liked Spaniels as well. When I was first researching breeds at 16, I was originally stuck on English Springer Spaniels for a while, before deciding that I could in fact handle a border collie.

All this to say...moooooore Watson pictures!

Bless Abrams' heart. He heard a car door shut outside on the street and he immediately started whining and running to all of the windows/door because he thought it was Michael. :(
