I think I'm going to take the Fenzi Sport Fundamentals class over winter break. I want to get into dog sports (mainly rally, until I move to an area where agility is actually a thing) but I have absolutely NO idea where to even start, so I think this will be good.

I'm excited :D

Part of my excitement is that UFli championships are held at purina farms. I totally have an excuse to visit koolies then.

We will see how it goes. Right now we are waiting on agility to open up so my plan is for this to be something we can do for now. Especially if Summer retires. I need dogsports in my life.

We also barn hunt in November. :)

I would assume that a friend of mine would have knowledge on dogs. She has a dog. Works with dogs. And has read so many books on dogs. Nope. She doesn't seem to have any real knowledge.

This is just one conversation we had.
Me: "Your dog is overweight"
Her:"Oh, I know he is, it doesn't really matter. It's cute"
Me:"But it's unhealthy"
Her:"If it was unhealthy, why is he still alive? He has eaten 2 barbie doll legs."
Me:"You should try to get him on "diet", & give less food. More exercise too"
Her:"He can still walk. He's my chubby baby"
Me:"......"
Her:"Well, my keeps feeding him food. It's not my fault."
Me:"Then tell your mom to stop."

Her dog is at least 15 pounds overweight. It's just...horrible. It isn't only that. Her dog has food allergies, & while they feed a higher quality food(Fromm, I think.) they feed low quality treats. Look, it's great that your feeding a higher quality food, but it kinds the process, when you feed treats that contain only crap.

Oh, & that isn't it.

And another one.
Me:"You should actually train your dog."
Her:"No, my dog doesn't need to trained."
Me:"Your dog only knows sit. He doesn't even come when called."
Her:"He comes when called."
Me:"Only inside the house".
Her:"So?"
She also mentioned that she doesn't train her dog. At all. Because she wasn't the one who was originally train her dog... Ugh.

It just annoys me. Particularly about situation that happened. We went for a walk,& brought her dog. There dog does pull a lot,& there is no train whatsoever-to curb this. As mentioned as before, there do was very little recall. Especially if this dog is interacting, or simply just see's a dog.I shouldn't of done this, but, I really didn't wan to face-plant. So, I let go of the leash to prevent that. Her dog runs, & runs, until her dog meets another dog. Thankfully, her dog isn't DA. Still. She didn't even call her dog back. I was the one running after her dog.

Haha, I wish!

I just don't see a time in the next 5+ years where it's going to be doable, unless my folks stop caring. I understand their position, we have four dogs + 100000 client dogs already.

If I stick around here until we're ready to buy a house, unless they have a change of heart, it won't be doable anytime soon.

If we move out and into an apartment or rent a house in the next year or so, the chances of finding one that would allow a third dog (in addition to 2-3 cats) is slim to none, even with the service dog thing.

We can't go straight to buying a house in the next 2-3 years because we won't have enough credit.

Em is 6. I wanted to get her potential successor by the time she was 7 in case that dog didn't work out, so I had time to figure it out. She'll be fine working into the double digits, I'm sure, but. Stressful.
Shoot, that blows :( I really wish I had some good suggestions or a compromise you could come to between your parents, but... ugh. I'll just send "hey parents, stop caring ASAP pls" vibes?

I am SO happy with the show we did yesterday!

Rigby was amazing. The obedience drills were spot on (with the whole team, not just her), she did well at high jump almost getting 8 bars - the big coonhound and dalmatian both only get up to 10 and their legs are taller than her.
She even got to play a game, which she doesn't usually do, and she ENJOYED it.
She did a happy zoomie run after the obedience drill, and tried to initiate play with Oz a few times.

Cobain and Oz were great too, but they always are. I'm most pleased with Rigby and how happy she was yesterday.

Morrison and Leia "wrestle" and play daily. Wrestling consists of Morrison laying on his back, wiggling like a noodle, and lightly mouthing the puppy as she bounces around him nipping and barking etc.

Well lately they have started doing this on the couch. Today they were doing so and a very excited and distracted Morrison forgot exactly where he was, and rolled off the couch and landed on his side with a loud THUD!

I would be lying if I said it wasn't hilarious. His look of total bewilderment was too good. Of course the doofus is perfectly fine. And he hasn't learned a thing from the incident because he was back up on the couch wrestling with Leia not 10 minutes later.

Rue broke out of her crate while I was at work, destroyed my only 36"... I only have the 42" vari in the car that can contain her...

But no one died and she didn't pee/poop in the house or destroy anything.

Ulysses is slowly developing muscle tone and his topline is beginning to level out. However, to borrow from Hyperbole and a Half, he is still uncoordinated on a level that suggests his canine lineage is tainted with a species that has a different number of legs. Like a starfish.

Congrats! I know how hard you've been working on her. And that obedience drill isn't easy... inevitably someone goes the wrong way or doesn't line up properly. :p

Thanks!!
Such a huge difference from last year. I was really worried about this show.

One issue I had was we started turning right at the stay portions, instead of pivoting left. Which I guess lead Rig to stand up in confusion, but she corrected herself quickly. Her focus was great and she did her little prancy heel for some of it which was nice.

So proud of Watson lately. The past couple nights he was actually able to heel outside! Only a couple steps at a time before a huge reward, but that's way better than we were a few weeks ago. Who would have thougt that focusing on LLW as an actual skill would have so many other benefits? He's so much more connected to me and less flaily outside now. I guess when you're not allowed to sniff anything and everything, paying attention to mom seems to like a reasonable alternative. Who knew?

I know I'm not really ready to breed Payton yet. And even though people are asking, we both agreed that we are just not ready yet.

But good GOD do I want a puppy. Right now. TO-DAY.

Wow ... there were two new people in my agility class last night that had malinois, a male and female, 9 months old, wash outs from the local military program (I thigh they wanted until they were older to wash them but, but i could be wrong). These dogs were out of control, dragging their owners around, barking an trying to chase the other dogs working on obstacles in the advanced novice class.

I hate to say this, but they are dangerous and I hope they aren't back next week :(
