So Roxie is taking extremely well to her ex-pen! I've been leaving her alone in the pen a few times a day while I'm home and so far, so good. She also goes in on her own a lot and falls asleep.

This is going so much more smoothly than I thought it would. I'm still holding my breath here, but I think that this is a very viable solution. Either way, I'm going very slowly with increasing the time that she spends alone.

She seems to be a lot more comfortable than being crated, tethered, or even free.

I was reminded why I don't bother with Pibble mommy people anymore. Or why I'm into Bully Breeds anymore in general :/

Because it's all in how you raise them!!!!!

Ugh, this times a million. I love those dogs but I cannot stand any of the people associated with them on any end of the scale and they're just making it worse and I just don't even want to be involved with any of the breeds anymore because the community just makes me nauseous.

NO. HOLD ON TO HIM UNTIL I CAN HAVE HIM.

I love that dog.
Which airport should I send him to? ;)

I actually had to sit down and think really hard about whether or not I could give him up before I spoke to my shelter manager. I'll need to have several talks with them about his needs before I'm going to be comfortable with him leaving. He's a special animal and I won't let him have any less then he does with me.

Ah, I am just feeling so gushy about them tonight. They're just such really good dogs and are all being so easy peasy lemon squeezy about all the changes in routine and activity lately resulting from Maisy's surgery. This could have been really hard but they are all being so amazing. I lurve them.

I am so proud of my boy.

We had a teammate die unexpectedly this weekend and it has been very hard on everyone. Tonight was our first practice back...

I decided to take Leo with me, even though it is normally not allowed, since he has been a real help to me and I figured he would be a help to others. He did absolutely amazing. He cuddled with everyone who wanted to cuddle and took everything in stride even when 4 people were all trying to pet him at the same time. He sat with the people who just needed him to sit. And he played frisbee with and performed all of his tricks for those who wanted that. He was both the calming presence and the fun distraction for everyone all night long.

He will probably never be an actual therapy dog, just because he is a bit leash reactive to other dogs and definitely way too distracted by them. But in just interacting with humans, he was absolutely perfect tonight.

He was GO GO GO all night long, but the second we came home, he passed out.

Was saying to my mom yesterday that I really wanted to go to the gym tonight, but I also need to work Payton at my house one last time before the trial Friday.

"I'm off tomorrow!" she says. "I'll go work him!"

Uhhhhh.

"What?! I can make him do weaves... and the dog walk..."

I asked her if she would take a video camera and record it.

Real interested to know how this is going to go LOL.

I have no couch and no master bed yet. And I just spent $500 on agility equipment.

Priorities. Yup
$75 Craigslist couch. It's a thing. :p

ETA: also, I love my animals. I honestly don't know what I'd do without them. They're my mental sanity, even when they're driving me nuts.

There's a girl in my apartment complex that walks her cat on leash. I took Talon to potty last night and we started walking to the garbage and the lady with the cat is 5 ft from the garbage. Talon isn't what I'd say as good with cats, but he isn't wanting to kill/chase them either. He's at that "OMG....what is that....." super curious stage.

So I decided to work on moving towards the garbage in a calm manner. It took us a little while of moving forward a few steps, move back, move forward a few steps, sit, move forward, sit, etc. but eventually we got there!

Also, the lady with the cat was so awesome! it's not often I meet people who are really polite/animal savy/curteous lol She asked if she could approach (Talon was calm at that point and she was trying to get her cat used to dogs), I declined she was totally understanding. She then asked if I'd like her to move further away, but I told her if it was ok with her that I just wanted to work on Talon staying calm as we got to the garbage and she was a great distraction, as long as the cat wasn't scared. Which is wasn't, Talon was still listening to me, wasn't screaming/whining, so all was well.

I'm just so proud at how well he held himself together! ^_^ I think maturity might be kicking in LOL
