Venice has been so itchy lately. All over. And restless at night. But there are no allergy symptoms apart from scratching. Skin/eyes/ears/stool are all normal.

I'm blaming the high pollen count.

Belle is driving me bloody insane!!!! for some reason, the past week she's been barking randomly at night. Just one bark each time.

when I come out she's just sitting in the middle of the living room. I let her out the first time but after that I know that's not the problem. She won't STOP. One night she did it FIVE times throughout the night.

I have the AC on to drown out any outside noise and Beezer isn't reacting so I know it's not something outside. I'm seriously at my wits end. I'm exhausted and I can't figure her out.

How come my dogs get the zoomies after we go for a jog, and I want to pass out for a minute or 20.

Also jogging with both dogs was probably a bad idea, because Juno is Miss Focused and super serious and Cajun is like OMG YEAH RUNNING WOOT and a complete spaz.

No, no. Very bad. Because the one I would go to is planning an AWESOME breeding for August. Sheltie pup is definitely not something I need right now :p
Oooh which one? Im nosey. And I like shelties too. There's some killer ones around here. Sooo much fun and I got to run one super fast one a few weeks ago. He rocked. Such a cool drivey dog.

I had a class start today and there's a 6 month old GSD in it. German showlines and just a lovely, lovely temperament. I asked where he was from, they gave me the kennel name, and it's not someone I would buy from. Sigh. I want one just like him (someday.)

My brother is in town with his terrier mix (rat terrier mix?) and him and Crossbone are SOOOO similar in their play & personalities. They played tug, bitey face and chase for hours. Some dogs he just immediately hits it off with. When my Aunt's labs come over he completely ignores them and gets bored of the Norwichs who can't keep up.

I sure hope he enjoys his baby brother!!!!

Thanks! I go through waves of excitement & panic! Puppy will either come home end of July or end of October. I hate not knowing!!!!!

I haven't told my parents yet. I'm afraid of their reaction -- and they're our dog sitters and I'm scared we're going to lose that.

Yes, yes, that is exactly what you need right now.
I have decided I am going to fix all my problems by getting a puppy.

and by all of my problems I mean none of them.

I told my mom and she was like "No. Are you really? Well, okay..."

Totally just remembered that I had a dream last night that I had a Malinois. And when puzzling over why I had one, while watching him play in the backyard with Abrams, the only reasonable explanation I could come up with was that I stole Phelan. :rofl1:

Don't worry. I won't steal Phelan. Because even in my dream, as soon as I saw the Malinois in my backyard my initial reaction was, "Holy crap, why do I have one of those?!" :p

hmmm ... after trying everything I could think of to curb Belle's nighttime barking, Hannah said "Maybe she needs a nightlight". I laughed at the time but when I was getting ready for bed I figured it wouldn't hurt to try....

it worked :yikes: she only barked once because she had to go out but slept the rest of the night.

my dog is afraid of the dark? lol

I thought maybe she is having vision problems but she is not showing any other signs of having vision issues and even at night she gets around outside just fine and doesn't bump into things.

She surprised me yesterday.

For the first time ever, she did not react to another dog that was across the street during our walk. She slowed down next to me and looked at it, but did not whine, pull, lunge, rush, nothing. Watched it keep going on its way. Awesome follow up after our jog in the morning - passed upward of 4 dogs separately and she didn't react.

Today, I also taught her the names of two toys and to differentiate between them in targeting in 20 minutes total. Huzzah! :D

Only downside: dad is passive-aggressive in his dislike of her. Which makes me anxious which makes her anxious and jumpy around him. Which led my mom to contact the SPCA about training calm behavior and disposition. That's not the bad part, it's just that she thinks I should have a different dog. But then my father asks why she should go, usually because he feels guilty for making snarky remarks and setting off my anxiety. Blah di dah, can't wait to move out.

Walking through the neighborhood with the pups and a neighbor down the street says to his family as we walk by, "see that boxer? It's like, the perfect dog."

I am assuming he's commenting on Juno's awesomeness in particular, and not just a breed comment, because 1) his family has boxers and 2) he has had a boxer that was euth'd due to aggression. So, he's not unfamiliar with the breed.

But yes. Juno is the perfect dog, thank you.
