I agree with you blue. I can't say at all what I would do in the situation as far as if Brandon went into a coma or was in vegetable state. I don't know what I would be morally pulled to do as far as pulling the plug or letting him live on the small chance that he may regain ability to live life again.
But I know in my heart of hearts that I would never move on and find someone else and have children with them. That's just sad. Their vows said "until death do us part." She was not dead. That is precisely what makes him an asshat.

I see nothing wrong with it in my opinion. We talking 15 yrs. that Terry was in a coma vegitated state. He met his now wife 11 years ago. The article does not state the ages of the two children. Who knows when they had the kids. This sort of thing happens in the world even when the wife is activly alive! We just don't hear about them in the news.

I'm glad he did it and hopefully he can put the ordeal with his deceased wife behind him. Her parents were entirely at fault and should not have put their family through that. This is why you need a living will that states what your wishes are. My wife and I both know that neither of us wants to be kept alive like that, and we wouldn't do it to our kids either.

I think he must have loved Terry MIGHTILY to have STAYED MARRIED TO HER, and fight as long as he did for what he felt was best for her, and what she wanted.

I should be so lucky to have ANYONE love me that much.

I wish him all the happiness life has to offer. He has already been through a living hell.

Agree too, Saje, Puckstop, Redye . . . her parents were the ones who were incredibly selfish, wanting to keep pumping artificial life into her forever, then dragging her through all that publicity for no other reason than their own inability to allow her to go "gently into that good night."

I am ashamed to say that I share the "same" faith as her parents. They were selfish to no end. If they REALLY believed in the promises our faith provides, they would want her to go to her reward.

I could see both sides of the story....as I parent I would want to hold on to any possible chance of her coming out of the coma. They were holding on to the very tiny % of recovery. He knew medically that this would probably never happen. I feel that he should have passed her care on to her parents and legally divorced her and move on. Yes, marriage is " t'il death we do part " ....but in his mind she was dead. This to me is more cause to break the laws of marriage than most of the 50% failures today.

Yea,
I can see where you all are coming from, definetely. Again, I just don't know what I would do if Brandon were hooked up to those machines. If I were to give the go ahead to unplug him, would I always wonder, What If? But it would also be selfish of meto make him go on like that. Not enjoying life, not being able to speak, show affection, etc. It's just an all around confusing thing.
I just wish that Mike Schiavo could have somehow divorced Terri and THEN moved on with his life.

The "asshats" and "snakes" in this whole episode were the Republicans who tried to use this woman's plight to further their own misguided agenda.

Truly disgusting behaviour.

I was horrified by this whole case. It brought out the very worst in people, and made me want to hide under my bed to be honest. My belief is if someone is in a vegetative state then it is best to let them go on into death. To drag it out 15 years on either side is an incredible shame and makes me glad I am not related to either side. Mostly because by dragging it out for so long, no one was able to heal and move on all of those 15 years.

I hope when I die, i am just allowed to die... don't bring me back, don't try to save me... just let me go. Let me go, remember me, but I'd want my loved ones to get on with their lives as best they can... That's the best, most productive rememberance I think someone can pay another person...

But those are just my opinions... nothing more.
