It's been so long. I need to get back here more often.
Brute has a problem. Or so i think he does.
Our vet says that it's a lactose intolerance issue.
Brutus last night had firm regular dog stool.
He got into some of the dinner we had which had 3 different cheeses melted in it. As well as mashed potatoes and green beans. Nothing really spicy, but Ridgebacks are notorious for their lactose problems. He doesn't get human food.. ever.. except when he's a 007 and finds it.
We took him out later that night before bed which we always do. he had regular or at least mostly regular stool and we brought him in for the night.
Wake up this morning and he has messed in his kennel. Which was watery but not super wet stool and some water stool.
He has been having spurts of stool and having a sick stomach, Today only.
His stool is a yellowish color. He is evacuating his stools quite often. I've taken him and bathed him a few times because he's been getting it on himself.
After letting the vet look at. He said it was an allergy/intolerance and no wiggly icky worms were found. There weren't any signs of pain and no blood.
He's got all his shots for Parvo and everything, at least up to date.
Could this be Cheese related? If it is, how long should it last before it works it's way out. I was told i could give him some pedialyte if i feel he's not getting enough water.
I asked about pepto and he said .5 - 1 ml/pound i think but I've never used it on a dog and am slightly worried of the outcome.
Has anyone else dealt with Lactose intolerance causing diarrhea like this?
