It can be a scary thing getting tested for many people, and I don't mean just scary as in actually BEING sick or waiting on the results! If your test comes back positive, it can mess up insurance coverage as well as other things in your life like jobs, relationships, and the way everyone views you. I know there are "discrimination" laws.......but we all know that means JACK. Once word gets out, sh!t is going to happen under the guise of other things and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it :(

I can truly see why so many DON'T want to be tested for those reasons alone.

I think I get tested for STI's every couple years when I go in and get a pap. I think its just a standard thing they test for when doing that test.... I think LOL! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that is what my Dr. said.

You may get tested for 'regular' STDs......but I think an AIDS or HIV test requires your permission directly. So if your doc has never told/asked you outright, and you've never been notified of results (even if it's negative, they let you know) then I'd say you don't get it done with your normal pap.

At least that's the way it works around here..........someone else can correct ME if I'm wrong, hahahahaha

i never get into a sexual relationship without BOTH of us getting a full std clearing first, not just hiv, but everything! my first boyfrined thougth it was a crock of ....
but im alergic to latex and dont trust the other options as much so it was come with me and get tested or your NEVER getting any...

my second boyfriend (most reacent ex) was a hound dog so it was a plain and simple do it or no...
he did without hesitation...

i also get a full screening when i go in for my pap, its optional but they only chagre an extr $5 for a full screening and ot me its worth it just to be sure, especially since with my luck id get something that can lay dormant for years lol.
so far so good...lol

I have a full blood panel run every 6 months because of a medication I take, so I have them draw an extra tube and do a full screening for anything I might have caught. Though I was in a monogamous relationship and am in a new one that's the same, you can never be too careful.

This made me laugh. I mean we KNEW the results after seeing the whole "..." thing. As if you would come and post a big suspenseful thread if you were positive. lol. I can see it now:

" I'm HIV.........................................

POSITIVE! Haha, sucker. I bet you thought it was gonna say Negative. Well, you were dead wrong, Buddy"
:rofl1:

Your correct, you have to sign the paper giving permission and then you get aa paper saying whether yoyr positive or negative. The STD testing is like regular bloodwork, you get blood drawn out and you pee in a cup, but you also have to give a salivia swab. Those results don't come back till a week later though.

TY Zoom. :)
