Thursday night, I started to have this AWFUL pain in my left side... So, I called my doctor and she told me that it sounded like I had pulled something... and to take 400MG Ibuprofin...
Well... Fast forward to Friday evening and I am in such excrutiating pain...
My mom forces me to go to the ER where I sit for 4 hours to find out that I have a Kidney Infection.
Now, I have a history of Kidney Infections, and this just DOESNT feel like it.
BUT I did get some pretty kickbutt pain meds... Even though they dont really take much of the pain away, they do help take the edge off of it.

Yeah... these pills have me all sorts of loopy. :thumbsupsmileyanim:
I talked to a few friends on the phone tonight and they were having fun laughing at my loopiness.

I got a new nickname too... lol "slick"
my friend Jim (the marine thats in Iraq right now) is looking at cars to buy when he gets back... and I asked him.. "is it a manual or a clutch" lol... he was like "good job Slick"
it was funny

Appendix are on the right side, I believe.

Could be a kidney stone...did they check for that?

Yup...appendix is on the right. I assume they did a UA and put you on some antibiotics...hopefully, they'll kick butt and you'll feel better soon. Good luck. Hope it's not stones. a-h-h-h.

The appendix IS on the right, but sometimes they lay differently in people and can present with back pain, rectal pain, left sided pain, belly button pain, etc. Right lower abdominal pain is just the most likely presentation.

if the pain seems to be getting worse, you should be rechecked. lay off the pain meds for a little bit and try to see how bad it still is. also, if you're having any new symptoms, like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc, you should be rechecked.

I had a kidney infection a few months back. It was horrible. If I wasn't so persistent on NOT going to the ER, that's where the doctor would have sent me. But instead I just got a shot in the butt instead of IV fluids. Hoping you get well fast! I know they had me on two different sets of pills before mine finally went away.

When I worked at the music store, the manager had sharp pains in his left abdomen. Turns out it was appendicitis but they didn't diagnose it until it ruptured. He almost died, and all the infection from the rupture set up adhesions after his surgery and they had to go back in . . . put him out for a good six weeks. Definitely not something to fool around with!

is the pain getting worse or just staying the same? this is important to know because if it's getting worse it might not be a kidney infection. and just because they did a CT scan to check for stones doesn't necessarily mean they would have seen it if it was something else. usually they have to use contrast to make sure it's not appendicitis or diverticulitis or something.

Are you having any urinary symptoms? does it hurt worse to pee? or did they call it a kidney infection because your urine was infected and they couldn't find anything else that would cause the pain? have you had a fever?

I'm just sayin... if it's something more serious, you don't want to wait.

the pain hasnt increased, and isnt as terrible as it once was... it's still excrutiating to take a deep breath, sneeze, yawn, cough, hiccup... ya know... things that I cant seem to stop doing now that I really dont want to do. lol.

No, it doesnt hurt to pee. I have been doing that alot though.
No fever.

I dont know why they said Kidney infection.
The doctor did say that my white blood thingy numbers were a little high, but not alarming. other than that, they said all the tests were normal.
