I'm doing some dorm shopping online and I know I have read stuff about scentsy here

I'm getting so sick of the smell of febreze at this point so I figured I would ask

Are scentsys ok for dorms?

(Oh and Zoom I'm on your page I think.. I got the link out of your siggy lol)

I have no idea what they are but if you set it on fire at all it's a big no-no in our school (no candles are allowed, no incense) .

Yup, Scentsy is perfect for dorm rooms! Because our warmers use a low-watt lightbulb, there's no danger of fire. :)

It should be allowed because it's not an open flame.

I'd also check with the dorm rules on scents though, some are strict about it due to allergies. Just like my one class with a "no scented anti-antiperspirant" rule... That one was a bit extreme though lol.

Thanks guys! I BBMed my RA and he said it sounds fine because it's a lightbulb

Now to find a scent that I like.. lol the fun part!

Oh and as for Allergies, I live in a single, so it's no worries there

I have one that I got for Christmas a few years ago and I'm pretty sure it would have been OK to have in the dorms at my school. of course, they never really checked so....

You could also look into the travel tins. We had one in our closet until we moved and they produce a decent smell without any heat.

Also, glad I found this thread. Zoom, I'm going to be checking out your site. I'm getting low on the wax refills.

The travel tins, Scent paks and room sprays are pretty effect as well.

The girl I roomed with at Convention brought the Odor Out room spray because we had a smoking room and it worked SO WELL!

Fran, what types of scents do you usually like?

Warmers without an open flame are usually allowed. I know where I lived no candles were allowed unless you removed the wicks.

Ooooh.... How strong do they smell? There's a stinky guy in an office across from me and I would like one for work. However, one of my coworkers close by says she is allergic to a lot of them... But she is also very oblivious and allergic to everything, according to her. I wonder if I could try a somewhat neutral clean smell and she if she notices it at all? If she does, I'll take it home, of course.

Jules, most anything from the spa line should work; White Tea and Cactus, Enchanted Mist, Pima Cotton, Shades of Green, stuff along those lines. None of those are "flowery", which is what tends to get to most people.

I ended up with Clean breeze (because I love the smell of clean laundry!), Lush gardenia (for the roses) and Pima Cotton

If they allow flat irons and the like I can't imagine a sentsy being a no no. The only complaint I have is that after my wax has been melted a few times (or even once for a long time) it never smells again. Like, If I remelt the same wax, there's just no smell. :(

Samantha, there is about 80 hours melting time total in each of the bars, so roughly 2 days per square. Also, don't discount your nose getting used to the smell. :)

Fran, good choices! I love Pima Cotton, plus it blends so well with other scents. If you find one is way too strong for your liking, throw in a square of the PC, it'll tone it right down.

I get scent migraines from pretty much ANYTHING remotely strong and i had quite a list of scentsy I could use!
Oh good, I thought I was the only one that got these things! At work we're always burning incense (which we also sell) and one of them gives me super horrible headaches where I need to hide from light :( It's funny because the scent that does that is our most expensive lol.

UPDATE/REVIEW

Things are going splendidly overall! :)

I love all the smells but clean breeze is my favorite <3 I love laundry lol

Here are my scentsy pro/cons in general

PROS:
- delivers it's lovely scents but not TOO strong for a small dorm, very long lasting
- the warmer thingy is very pretty
- Pretty cool/a conversation piece
- Doesn't take up too much space
- Doubles as a soft lovely night light! (no more stumbling to answer the door at night/to go to the bathroom)
- I got that 3 smell package thingy and that's a lot of fun to mix/match! plus pretty inexpensive
- It's fun watching the thingies melt lol
- It can even mask the disgusting smell coming in from the hallway when I leave my door open lol (you know, the college dorm guy smell lol)

CONS:

- Get ready to explain it to your RA/whoever does room checks 20128572 times because golly if they DO NOT believe it's simply a light bulb/will argue that it probably isn't allowed before you take the whole thing apart to show them and them finally agreeing it's basically just a frikin lamp

- Some instructions or FAQs on after care/use and stuff would've been nice. I had no idea how to clean it, when to clean it, can you turn it on/off? that kind of thing lol
