If it's any relevance Sadie is now 15 months old.

Went outside today as usual after I fed her to play with her and let her go potty. However, today she seemed very uninterested in playing with her toy and more interested in sniffing certain areas of the ground. I didn't think much of it as she loves to sniff things outside anyways. So I stood outside and enjoyed the weather for a little while, for some reason its 70 degrees the first of January down here. I look back at Sadie and shes off to the side of the yard sniffing one area very intently and starts rolling around in that area for several minutes. I tell her to stop and come. She comes we play a little more and notice she was salivating heavily.

We go back inside and she drinks a good bit for not being outside for very long.

About half hour later I went to go start making lunch and she follows me into the kitchen as always, hoping for something to drop, and i smelled something sour. I noticed it was coming from Sadie, and noticed she had something dried all over her neck and under her ears. Smelled similar to sour milk but not quite as strong,so I went to go give her a bath and the smell is gone now.

Anybody know what this could be? Did she find a scent of another animal and tried covering it up with her own?

Dogs just love to roll in stinkiness and nastiness. It's the absolute highlight of their day.

I should tell you about the time a few crawfish shells escaped the trash and spent a week or so baking to perfection out the sun. My Cairn Terrier, Pepper, who was a young 15 years of age at the time, found them and gleefully rolled and squashed and slithered all over them for at least 30 minutes. I thought she was just enjoying a good scratch. You should've smelled that stank............it was vomit-worthy.

:rofl1: I love dogs

Any idea what the salivating could be? It was foamy almost like she had rabies or something.

Oh god, Mia rolled on a rotten fish with maggots in it once. It was the WORST smell ever and I had to drive home with her in the car.

Dogs will just do that in response to certain smells. I dunno, but I know some things will make my dogs look rabid. lol

As for what your dog found, who knows. It could have been the vomit from another animal or....bleh...the options just go downhill. :yikes:

Watch the area because your dog will most likely want to revisit it's newfound "prize". :lol-sign:

That they do. ;)

Fortunately my dogs' favorite is moldy leaves, so it's not horrible. But they did once find a lovely dead mouse, covered in maggots, and briefly roll there before I was able to see what it was and stop them. And wash them.

Mole poo ..I hate mole poo, apparently they do too which is why they do not want it in the tunnels.

I think I'm going to go find out what she was rolling in now...maggots seem to be a trend here.

EDIT: not sure what it was...something black with flies on it..could have been smeared crap from something..
