So I have seen that some people give there dogs a Raw Egg once in a while with there dog food!

Is this good or bad?

And what is it for? To help with there coat?

Thanks!

Andy gets one raw egg in his food 3 X a week. It really makes a difference in his coat, and he's never had any problems digesting it.

We have chickens, we have dogs - the dogs get an egg in their meal once a day, every day. I like having the "different" protien source in their diets.

That being said, I NEVER give raw eggs to puppies under the age of five months. They get their's cooked in the microwave.... :D

healthy dogs rarely have a problem with salmonella. their stomachs have stronger acids and their digestive tracts are shorter- stuff doesn't sit in there as long as it does in humans.

If our dogs don't get salmanella from eating poop or the other disgusting things they pick up, I don't think they will get it from fresh raw eggs. But that is also why young puppies don't get them, as their digestive systems aren't as developed as adults and I feel they are more susceptible to things like salmanella....

My dogs both get whole, raw eggs (shell too) every other day. I don't notice a difference in their coats, but it's a great source of protein and they love it.

My dogs get raw eggs in their kibble every once in a while. I also sometimes give them cut up boiled eggs.

We feed a couple of times a week, shell and all... Shells are spat out and revisited 1/2 hour after meal when she realises there is nothing better!!

We fed our elder dane raw eggs for a while.

We have free range chickens though, so I think feeding eggs to the aussie's raw would encourage them to "steal" from the henhouse, even though they do if you don't watch them close enough anyways. ;)

I give raw eggs once or twice a week to the dog I'm trying to put weight on, and once a week to every other week to my own dog. Never had any problems with runny poops or anything like that. I usually mix it in with the kibble.

Yup raw eggs are fine, the boys get them often and they love it! It has also done wonders for Ronan''s coat which when he came to me was so dry and wirey if you closed your eyes while petting him you would start wondering if you were petting a wire-coated jack russel or a cairn terrier than a siberian husky! I also fed a higher quality kibble and gave olive oil though.

My dogs love raw eggs and I did notice a difference in their coat. I was giving them each one raw egg a day. Then I ran out and am now about to start up again.
