I think every (or at least many) breeds have different "types"...I think especially with a lot of working breeds the field-bred types tend to be different looking than the ones bred mainly for show, but both fit the standard and can do both (at least physically).

I mean some golden retrievers have TONS of hair and super thick coat and are stockier and some are much less hairy and leaner build, you can even see it in their heads and stuff...labs and spaniels are other good examples, also in many herding dogs (border collies, aussies, etc.)

here's a dog who places in cruft's

and an american cocker who is different looking

and some JRTs

and this dog has a deeper chest and longer legs, but is still acceptable

** The above dogs are favorites of mine. As you can see there are several types.

The most beautiful one of all. ;)

Laur, I LOVE Prince. He is a beauty. Which type of Phalene do you prefer? I really like the D' Antan line and Joonas, though I love Cobb too.

Has anyone noticed what I call "puppy stamp"? Where an influential sire produces his look consistently? River is one of them! :D

River is linebred on Ken Mar Party On A Wave.

**I could disguise River as this pap! lol

I'm so proud, I know most the names of those dogs! lol

Who is the one after Cobb though? Love that dog but I can't place it. And the one two down from Dylan?

That is Waytogo's O My Starry Eyed Suprise.

The one right after Dylan? That is Scooby Dooby Doo Forussi. The next one is Harmony's More Than Words.

Can you tell I love Papillons? ;)

Joonas is my favorite phalene although I have not seen Cobb in person but I have seen Joonas at the local specialties and shows a few times. He's a stunner. Cobb is nice of course but Joonas has a more refined, papillon looking (to me), head. My friend's phalene Solei is much more spaniel looking than either of them though. Maybe I can try to snag a picture of him. He's very pretty.

I definitely like those two dogs' styles. Especially the one after Cobb. I'm just trying to keep things in mind for the future lol.

Ok here's Solei. Not the best pic but all I can find atm. This was taken at Crufts. One day I'm going to have to import a phalene from her lol.

He has a much more spaniel look to him.

Errr I'd have to ask. I know it but I can't think of it at the moment. They're in England though.

I have never seen Joonas in person, but I have seen Cobb several times. So it's the opposite of what you've seen, Laur. lol

Do you have any all time favorite paps? pics? ;)

Yep, that was Laur and I discussing Paps (gasp! Who woulda thunk it?) I'm a big fan of the domed head and abundant coat but I adore how leggy and petite Travis is. I'm hoping we will get the best of both by breeding him with Riley. She is full blood English with Lorah, Ringlands and Junesville in her pedigree.
