Oh, Psyche was MISERABLE after her spay -- and the 10 days after were killer on me. Psyche's spay was kind of a big deal (lots of bleeding when they did it), so she was told to stay on 100% (other then pee's) crate rest for 3 - 5 days, and then from 5 - 10 days do very little. And then slowly bring her back into her normal routine (romping, tugging, playing hardcore, etc..). She was supposed to stay away from stairs for the whole 10 days... but it takes 2, 4, or 12 steps to get in the house (depending where you come in), and then 2 steps once in the house to get into the living room, then a bunch of steps to get upstairs to her crate. The first night she did all of them alone.
Honestly, though, the night I brought her home she was groggy for the car ride (a 1 1/2 hour drive), but once we got home she was a little ouchy, you could tell, but she did the steps and such fine, on leash. By the time she rolled around to the next morning, she was HATING being held in her crate.
Ugh, it was terrible for us, but I hope it's a lot easier for you. I didn't let Psyche play (or interact more then just walking through, on leash) with the other dogs until about day 5, or when her belly looked good.
Good luck!
