Um...is it true that bullysticks are...um...the part of the bull that the cow doesn't have...?
yep, they take the penis after they castrate the bull and dry it out. All my dogs have always had these. I have a supply of them from when we had the ranch!!! yes we saved them. i know we are insane.

If it is h is penis how is it so long and skinny? It looks like a femoral artery (sp?)

I'm glad Tosca is ok! I used to give my old dog rawhides and pig ears before I knew better, but she did great on them. Never a problem and the pig ears got her teeth looking really good.

I let Sawyer have part of a rawhide when I first got him...he threw up a 3"x3" undigested piece of it late the next day...that was the end of rawhides for any of my dogs!

I'm glad she's ok, but i am just goin to say that my dog is 11 years old, a dachshund, and my dad has been giving him rawhide and pig ears for his whole life and he deals with them just perfect. My vet says some dogs deal with the chewing a lot better than others. He says that he's the healthiest dachshund that goes into the office, teeth are great, skin is great, back is great, and he is not overweight and chubby like most dachshunds. The only thing that is wrong with him is he was born blind hehe.

How scary!!! Poor Tosca! I'm so glad nothing really bad happened. I gave Hudson a rawhide bone ONCE. It was a gift from my sister. (I don't buy those kinds of things.) He went totally insane for it. Just chewed and chewed and chewed without stopping for a long time. He'd pull pieces off of it, and I'd take those away and throw them out. (I was watching him the whole time, LOL) Then I noticed BLOOD on the rawhide! So, I took it away, and never has he seen one again.

Obviously the dogs love these things, but it would just be crazy for me to ever give Hudson one of these again. I'm glad we both learned our lesson without anything truly bad happening!

I was giving Sam, my 4 month old the big raw hide flips and he would knaw those things down really fast. One night I gave him one to chew on when I was watching TV in bed. I was dozing off and I felt Sam moving around alot on the bed to the point it woke me up.Something told me to look for that raw hide and I found a piece about the size of a silver dollar lodged in the roof of his mouth toward the back - it was stuck. I got it out and will never give my dogs raw hides again! It scares me to think what would have happened if I did not wake up or had not been around.

Yesterday a dog supply catalog came in the mail, and I was surprised how many rawhide products it had in it. My vet has always said not to give them to my dogs, but I started thinking, well maybe it isn't that bad.... I'm glad I saw this thread!

wow I took Ginger's oops Tia's away right away I'm going to the pet store today to get her another kind of something ...lol do I ask the clerk for a bull penis lol:) ??
Soi of course being me I called my vet right away and they told me that the pressed is better. What about those bones that you see in the pet stores they look like real bones that have been smoked are those ok? I just want to give her something to chew on since I was just told that they need to chew.
