More power to her. I think it's ridiculous for people to be offended by a word which means female dog. It's their problem if they don't know the English language and are offended because of their misinterpretation of vocabulary in the language. It's like, "gay." That word means happy and jolly. It does not mean homosexual. So, when people are offended by the proper use of that word, I say the same thing. Tough!

This controversy ought to really bring in the business. Everyone will know about her store.

If someone has a 5 yr. old, as it was described in the article...."How do you explain to a 5 yr. old?" Well, you explain just like you explain what any other word means.....that that means female/girl dog. And some people use it to mean something else, something not nice. But the real meaning is girl dog. And leave it at that. I doubt that a 5 yr. old is even going to think twice about it. They're not as stupid as most adults.

Next time I go visit my daughter in Seattle, we'll just have to go visit that store. It's up by the university district on the west side of the freeway, kind of on the way to the zoo (if anyone wants to know) lol....should be fun! Maybe I'll buy something prissy for Chulita. LOL.

Geez..people get their hackles all raised for a word that is used in it's proper form.

And, I'm with Jess.. I love it! Though, I'd never shop there...

LOL. I'm not surprised it got this reaction...

as much as i hate when the word is used to describe a female dog, i dont think she should have to change anything.

As for family photos being ruined....hasnt anyone heard of cropping things out!? HELLO! welcome to the age of digi cams :p

LOL if people are worried about family photos being ruined..... DON'T TAKE YOUR PHOTO THERE. I can't see anything there that is some kind of landmark. That's a stupid excuse lol

That was like people getting all up in arms about Janet Jacksons boob at the Super Bowl. It was on TV for a fraction of a second. If any parent didn't bring it up I bet no kid would have known what happened. Besides, in my opinion they show worse crap than that on TV all the time LOL. People just like to get all up in arms about nothing

You're right Doberluv... she's getting a lot of business because of the controversy. I've been to the store, a little pricey, but cute, fun stuff. My business cards are getting dropped off there next week, while this is still a hot topic! Lol

Good idea Otch! Might as well raise your business right off of theirs. Why not? People will be coming from all over the area I bet. It's funny how news like that travels on a fast horse.

I imagine it would be pricey, indeed.

How do you explain it to a child? Perhaps by telling them the truth? <~~that was just a shot in the dark I know nothing about raising kids.

I like it, but then again words are just words to me.

That lady is a liar, she is not the most open-minded blah blah blah in the world if already 8 people on Chaz, some of whom are the very opposite of liberal, don't have an issue with the sign.

I thought the business about it ruining tourism and tourists' family photos was a hoot. I'd wager that for every one person who would think their photo was 'ruined' by that sign there will be at least a few dozen more who will pose purposely to get the sign in their photo ;)

I've been in the store- and it's absolutely adorable. Most of the things are completely ridiculous and superfluous, but that's the fun of it.

I particularly love the "High Maintenance Bitch" t-shirts and camisoles. I really want one!

If any of you remember the show "Showdog Moms and Dads" from a year or so ago, the brother of the woman who owns the store is one of the two men who owned the TFT. I'm pretty sure his appearance on the show was a publicity stunt for the store (and a pretty successful one...because that's how I learned about it), because the two boys were SO clueless about showing dogs it was hilarious.

Anyhow, I think the controversy is ridiculous. People have too much time on their hands. And I would DEFINITELY be one of the countless people to PURPOSELY take a photo in front of the sign.
