Neighbors that don't pick up dog waste how do you feel?

How do you feel about neighbors who leave "canine landmines" and don't bother to pick it up. Some people leave it around here in front of mailboxes or off in a field in the neighborhood that isn't technically anyones land in the neighborhood.

Also if a disabled person in a wheelchair who is super sweet but lets their dog poop all over when they bring it for a walk...then doesn't have anyone pick it up... .well how would you deal with that?

I had a new neighbor move in and they owned a dog. They would bring it across the street and let it poop under the trees that were in front of other houses in the neighborhood. Well, this person the first few months brought their dog in front of my neighbors house to go. ALWAYS when she wasn't home.

Then she'd get home when I'd be walking my dog and assume it was me who left the poop there (when I blatantly walk about with the blue dog poop bags and pick it up all the time)

She yelled out her window one day...:"PICK IT UP!" man did she make a mistake. I yelled back "UM HELLO SEE THIS BAG my dogs poop is inside, that's not my dogs poo it's the new neighbor" She didn't yell back. But I thought she was rather idiotic considering my dog poops mini cobras and the poop she assumed was my dogs poop was about the size of a softball which a 5 pound dog can't pull off.

IMO if your dog poops anywhere but in your front yard (unless you're out in the woods somewhere), you should pick it up.

If you bring your dog to poop in my yard, you will find it in a big pile burning on your own front doorstep.

Ok good to know I'm not over reacting. I've never left a burning bag..probably can't get away with it these days. Sounds fun though.

I agree, it really ticks me off... especially since I live in the city, so it's inevitably in the middle of the sidewalk. Sometimes you can barely find a path around it! We have lots of little dogs in the neighborhood, and I think their owners think it's acceptable - the poop is small, so who cares? Oy vey. Luckily Rudy doesn't like to poop on walks (only in the yard or a park), so I rarely have to worry about it... but when I walk my roommate's dog, I ALWAYS pick it up unless she goes in a deep bush or something.

As for the lady in the wheelchair, maybe you could kindly suggest a pick-up product that would work for her? Can't think of anything specific, but I'm sure there is something out there... like those scooper bags with cardboard funnels. Just a thought!

Sorry this made me LOL . We took our dogs hiking a few weeks ago, in the woods, this guy comes out of no where says we "better have bags to clean up after our dogs or eles" ......hehe. where the heck did the guy come from? was he the woods patrol?

any who, if your dog poops clean it up, whether it be in your yard , not your yard, doesnt matter.

Which begs the question: If a dog poops in the woods and there's no one to smell it, does it stink?

Seriously . . . in the WOODS. Errrmmm . . . wonder who cleans up after the deer, the rabbits, the coyotes, the raccoons, the bears . . . which brings up the other question, DOES a bear sh1t in the woods?

I don't have a problem with a moderate amount of dog poop. I do have a problem with the concept of wrapping something that's organic and puts nutrients into the soil in plastic, then dropping it in MORE plastic and hauling to a landfill . . . I mean . . .

I think it depends on where you live. When I lived with my gramps, his house was surrounded by woods, my dog would poop in the woods and I wouldn't clean that up... no one goes in them, except on the trails to the water(and she didn't go on the trails). So her poop didn't bother anyone.

Where I live now there are no woods, so yes, I pick it up. There's a feild by my house too that kids use to play games in... I let them run in there... and when they poo I pick it up there too.

IMO, if it's somewhere people use then you should pick it up. If it's somewhere that no one is going to step in it(like in the middle of the woods, off the trails) then let nature do it's thing. poop is food for other creatures, so why deprive them of it, if it's not going to cause any harm by ending up on someone's shoe?

There's a large field with very tall grass, surrounded by a wooded area where everyone walks their dogs and allows them to poo without picking it up. Its not near houses, so no one cares.

But people do care if you let your dog poo in their yard. I always pick it up if my dogs do that. And if they do that, its an accident on the way to the area mentioned above.

Mine either go back in the wooded part of my backyard or they wait until we're at a field owned by the county. The inmates do the maintenance on the field, and ER, a stray who took up residence at the jail, does his thing there as well, so I kinda figure it's my property taxes at work

In the rare instance one of them might not be able to hold it on the way and goes in a neighbor's yard, I either pick it up or make sure it's moved over under shrubbery where no one will step in it and it will do some good.

My neighborhood is pretty laid back and most people have a dog or cat or both and we just kind of coexist for the most part.

I have encountered many woods people who go around telling you to pick up poo. There are bags where you pull in to park your car, even.
Pit always dives deep into the shrubbery to poop on hikes, so there's no way I'm going in after him to find it. If they want people to pick up poo in a forest, there should be garbage cans in there too so no one has to hold a bag of poo for upwards of 3 hours. Then again, garbage cans dispersed through a forest would be pretty ridiculous.

In the woods or something like that doesn't bug me. In the park or school yard, you better clean up. You BETTER clean up if your dog goes in my yard! I've yelled at people before, since I can see 3 sides of my house from my office windows. The dogs will bark at the people walking their dog, so I'll watch and see what they do. One lady was letting her dog come from the road all the way up to my fence, which is about 50' off the road, to pee on it. I told her "please don't let your dog do that" and she says "he's already done", so I replied, "I meant, don't do it any more. It drives my dog nuts when some strange male dog pees on his fence, and I don't want to be responsible for him jumping the fence and hurting your dog". She never came back...

I always keep poop bags in my back pocket so I'll already have them when I take the dogs out. In that respect I hate it when people let their dogs poop in our front yard and don't bother to pick it up. If I can carry those bags, why can't they?

Someone in the neighborhood has been letting a little brown dog wander around by itself lately though, I have no idea who it belongs to and it always runs off when I try to go outside to check for tags.

There are biodegradable bags for poop pick up. I find that much more polite to both an individuals yard and the environment. Aside from that, it's atrocious. Pick up after your dogs, it's called being a responsible owner.

well... we don't always pick up the poop in our backyard (although eventually we will have to be more vigilant when Hannah starts running around the yard lol)

but if they poop anywhere else... we pick it up.

Totally agree. The woods off the path is no issue I could care less but right in the way of my shoe=no good.
