You might laugh, but many "country" neighborhoods, where people own horses, require that you clean up after your horse.
Literally clean up after it goes on a trail? I have to say trail riding would be a lot funnier seeing riders hop down to bag up the poop. We have laws on where your manure/compost pile is but the day our unpaved,no lines, road has to have horse poop pick up pigs will fly And none of the great trail systems we have here require it either.
of course we pick up around the barn(I think I am the only one in the area who cleans the pasture-only because my dogs will eat it all) and its no pigsty but when you ride for miles who is going to walk back with a shovel and throw it in the manure pile?
There is actually a no animal sign at many of our beaches-I guess to cover both horses and dogs I have to admit riding a horse on a beach is nice but I didn't think they allowed it most places.
If I was ever told to pick up the horse poop I think I would move. I couldn't imagine getting up for a couple hour ride and then having to rewalk it all to go pick up poo. I know some of the horse communities employ people to do it but they have some money to blow and are really big on prettiness.
I did know a crazy cat lady who had so many her kids did cat poop duty in the yard-that is a scary thought.
