Sooo, the guy I am dating just told me last night that yesterday was his birthday (this was just on the phone cause he had been out of town for the weekend). He had just kinda casually mentioned it when I asked him what he had done all day ("my fam threw me a bday dinner")...oooopsies.

Apparently he had mentioned it to me earlier, but clearly I wasn't listening, LOL.

Anyhoo, I am gonna see him in a few hours, and I just have *no* idea what to do. I've only known him for like 1.5 weeks, but we've hung out & talked A LOT.

Should I get him a card? Or maybe pick up a slice of cake somewhere (if the supermarket even has that...I have no clue. THere are no **** bakeries in this town). I would normally make something, but I really don't want to make a huge batch of something (I really do NOT need sweets around me right now & I don't think he is a huge dessert person). Blah, I just need something quick...and appropriate for the length of time we've known each other. And CHEAP. I'm broke!

Most decent groceries have bakeries, so I'd snag a cupcake from one and put a candle in it. You've only been seeing each other for a week and a half and the two of you are keeping it fairly casual.

I'd skip the card. WAY too many pitfalls there.

Small and cheerful. Agree cupcake and candle is sweet, but you can't read too much into it ;)

thanks for all the advice...

So on my way over to his place, I stopped at the supermarket...and ugh, nothing. I am kind of a snob when it comes to desserts...and that nasty white/colored frosting...no. They didn't have any individual cupcakes...and their individual cakes were pretty big & just nothing looked appealing, so I went empty-handed. I feel kinda bad...maybe I'll surprise him with my tiramisu. If I can find marscapone in this town, that is...
